Dr. Who

I usually never like sci-fi television but for some reason I am thoroughly enjoying Dr. Who. I've been watching the show, from the beginning, for the past 2.5 weeks and I can't get enough. Some pretty fine British women on that show too, especially Rose from the first two seasons. TV wise I think this has become my favorite show.

It is good to watch [thumbup]

Very good show imo, the best si-fi tv show on atm. Though i did find that season 6 has went down hill alot compaired to the other seasons (i still think David Tennant was the best DW, although Matt Smith isn't doing a bad a job too)

theres 2 spin-off series

the sarah-jane adventures - aimed at under 10`s , shown on `cbbc` , they have a few cross over`s with the good doctor hiself - same sort of premise as doctor who but aimed at a younger audiance and

torchwood

welcome to captain jack harkness and his own series, more `adult` themed (especially the last , most recently shown series - miracle day

Thanks. I'll certainly be checking that out. [thumbup]

Torchwood was fantastic up until the latest season. It was far far far too stretched out with far far far to much gay **** in it.

^^ yeah - was good , and the entire story line was very good espeically when they started on the `level of life` - but an entire episode based on jack s******g some bloke? why?

If they had shrunk it to maybe 6 episodes, it would have worked. I mean they introduced the family in the last 2 episodes, imo by that point, its a bit late to be introducing main plot characters.

I didn't really get the point of the pedo character either. Why did he even exist? [thumbdown]

occafeVes 10-11-2011 04:02 AM

that was easy - a focal point , someone who should have died for his crimes but didnt (thats ep1 readers) >>>>> and was then a tool for the familes till they had no more use for him and took the girl for the PR spin whilst aiming for endgame

Just started season 5 and already I can tell that Matt Smith's Doctor is much more like I imagined him. Tennant's was great, but I like Smith's anger/violence better. On a side note, Ms. Pond is very very attractive. I raise my glass to you Brits, great show. Cheers!

Yep started watching this year, man I'm loving it [thumbup]

And I'm deffinately in love with Ms. Pond http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif she's quality!

You seen the Confidential (behind the scene) episodes? They're great fun too!

ahagotyou 11-10-2011 09:00 AM

I've only seen from the 9th Doctors and onward but I've enjoyed that show very very much! From what I've noticed people like Tennants character the best and as much as I 'love' his character I actually like Matt Smiths more. He seems less troubled by his loss/actions than Tennant but it's those times where he shows his age and.. tiredness (?) that draw me to his character because it contrasts from his norm; mostly he is quirky and more interested/fascinated, also a good thing.

I have always been a dr. who fan. When the new show came on a while back I really didnt want to like it, but it was good. And it just keeps getting better. I really think matt smith does a good job. He had some big shoes to fill but its worked out. The writing seems to keep getting better also. I like how the show seems to have a direction now that I havnt seen since the time around when The Master was coming. I mean the randomness is part of being the doctor, but I like tie ins and how the first episode wrapped back around to the finale.

Oberjej 12-10-2011 01:17 PM

The body count for the doctor is quite staggering.

Agreed, tennant's Dr lost it's charm, for me, when he took that petty move against the British PM for ordering that travelling race to be destroyed - IMO, she did exactly the right thing, rather than do as the Dr was going to do, leave them to continue to prey on more and more planets to letting them go free after having attacked many in the past.

In their time, most of the female companions have been rather tasty - Mary Tamm, for instance.
