If you didn't go up the Rockafeller, that's worth a go. Any other suggestions? Also, what's the weather normally like the start of December... sounds stupid, but is there ever any chance of snow? ![]() |

Actually,w e didn't do that... will give it a go, and I'm always up for eating so Apple's will be done... Applebee's are everywhere in the states, they are a chain of neighbourhood bars. |

Went at exactly the same time a few years ago for my birthday and it was freezing cold and windy with no snow.
We stayed in the Mandarin Columbus circle and there is a great Sushi restaurant downstairs called Masa which is worth going to for the Sushi or the Beef! But according to city statistics: "Active restaurants in NYC (NYC DOHMH, as of 4/1/10): 23,499" You can pretty much find the best of whatever you fancy eating, our hotel Concierge was excellent at recommending places. You could also follow http://www.michelintravel.com/ Star guide and Bib guide! We also went on a Helicopter Tour from here http://www.libertyhelicopter.com/ got to see everything and I love Helicopters! Top of the Rock is good also, perspex elevator to the top is crazy and then in my opinion a better view than from the Empire State building. So many thing to see, do and eat. I really need to get back there. I want to do a trip just to eat at the current top 10 restaurants ![]() |

Well, I'm all booked with the missus from 1st-7th December inclusive (staying in Time Square)...
After a tough year of work, house moves and other things, we need a break... and I'm well up for it... so much I've just booked two seats at the New York City Ballet to watch GEORGE BALANCHINE'S THE NUTCRACKER... can't wait... ![]() We went to NY in November 2006 when I ran the NY Marathon (whupping Mr Armstrongs arse I might add[thumbup])... for my honeymoon and loved the place... really did and always wanted to come back around Xmas time when it's colder and more Xmassy... So, plan is, beers in some blues bars (any recomendations?)... lots of eating... lots of running around central park as I've got a couple of big races when I come back and a 10 mile race I need to be in around 56 minute shape... So, anyone reccomend bars/eateries/things to do? We did the Empire State, and Staten Island... and a few other things, the normal tourist stuff.... anything recomended from people who live in the area or have been there before? |
