There are no black people watching at the end of the film then?

How is it rude to text in a cinema?! Everyone does it here and you bother no-one with it

Because it's dark and the light from the phone screen is distracting. Too many people treat the cinema like they were sitting in their living room. They aren't.

Mobile phones in the cinema should be switched off (they even have messages before the film saying this). It's ridiculous that some people can't seem to leave their phone alone for more than 5 seconds.

Edit: Also you are there (or at least you're supposed to be) to watch the film. So why are you fiddling with you f'ing phone?

Yessss Alamo Drafthouse FTW.

One of my favorite cinemas to go to. Usually 30 minutes of pre-movie clips (weird stuff from youtube, or archived footage in some way related to the upcoming movie), followed by a few short trailers, then a dramatic warning about kicking your ass if you use your phone during the movie.

Also they serve a bunch of beers and foodz inside. Probably the coolest theater in Austin...or heck in the southwest.

We don't have beer in our theaters in Atlanta... I had to smuggle my own 40's into "Kicking and Screaming..."

That was good.

BS!
You look at a huge, bright screen. Any mobile phone shouldn't be noticed at all. Besides its not like you hold the mobile phone above your head or something

BegeMoT 09-06-2011 06:52 PM

[stupid] ... NOT!

UpperMan 09-06-2011 10:23 PM

Yay for having mobile phone jammers at our cinema !! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

Not really, if you sit further back in the theatre if someone pulls out their phone your brain notices whether you are looking at the screen or not and it is distracting. Once several people do it repeatedly it gets ****ing annoying. You seem to be the only one who doesn't think so.

Saw that ad the other day, love it. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

No. In the US we have "stadium" seating where the people in front of you are a level lower and you can easily see their phone when they are holding it by their lap.

Oehhhhh you have those in the USA?? woooooww

Unless the movie is very boring it shouldn't bother you that much

I think the general consensus is that it is impolite. But if you are oblivious to it, more power to you! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

For most, a pitch black theater with bright screens popping up in their peripheral, it is distracting though.

asypecresty 09-07-2011 05:25 AM

it is very impolite and inconsiderate. you are not the only person in the theater and should think about those around duran. its a very rude thing to do and actually makes me stay away from the theaters among other things people do there.

сайдинг 10-06-2011 07:12 AM

I'm not so sure this is about being impolite as it is that pretty much every cellphone now has a video camera on it that can illegal record the movie(if you have a big enough memory card)

That seems a bit more logical to me than "it annoys other people"

Surely that's what it is?
