I agree. Phonetic spelling is one of the few ways to get it done right and easy. Kanji aside, Japanese was EASY as to learn, mainly because it IS phonetic.

Its why i'm such a supporter of the Metric system vs the Imperial system. Just as accurate, 10x easier to learn. Spend less time teaching it, and more time working on advanced skills.

Pretty cool video.

Gotta love the english language. [thumbup]
Gotta be easier then Chinese though. Those guys have thousands upon thousands of characters, with thousands more. Plus some languages get so attached to their items/products that they give them genders! [shocked]

I learned a bit of German back in the day and I thought it was a bit ridiculous for having 16 different ways for saying the word "the."

Canada's alphabet has Z but pronounce it "zed" and the last character is a ? that they pronouce "eh."

Nice video but the English language wasn't made around a meeting table.

What can't you agree about ? Even if I'm not native english I can see the man's point that some things don't make sense, but hey we have similar things happening in good old French too.

It's a funny commentary that he's making. That's about it. English is the most borrowed language in the world. It's short on vowels, but there's no need to dum(b) it down. [yes]

"Zed" is the British pronunciation of "Z".

It is 'Zed' in English, American English 'Zee' sounds too close to 'Cee' (C) for my liking!, I've never quite understood that particular bastardization...

Actually it is more Z =Zee and C=See... that you get confused by Z sounding like S either means everyone you know has a lisp, or you have damaged ears

though, obviously, I wouldn't have a problem with z=zed

Cee/See = Semantics

And no I don't socialise with lispers and my hearing is perfectly fine thank you very much...

It's not complicated at all, just incorrect.

Then you might as well swear off talking to anyone with a different dialect. Its not incorrect, it just IS.

Americans say "Zee" instead of "Zed". We also do not have a silent Th in Therapist as other dialects do. For Americans someone saying terapist instead of therapist would seem odd and wrong, but its not wrong.

Moving forward using all my breath
Making love to you was never second best
I saw the world thrashing all around your face
Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace
I'll stop the world and melt with you
You've seen the difference and
It's getting better all the time
There's nothing you and I won't do
I'll stop the world and melt with you
(You should know better)
Dream of better lives the kind which never hate
(You should see why)
Dropped in the state of imaginary grace
(You should know better)
I made a pilgrimage to save this human race
(You should see why)
Never comprehending a race that long gone by
(I'll stop the world)
I'll stop the world and melt with you
(I'll stop the world)
You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time
(Let's stop the world)
There's nothing you and I won't do
(Let's stop the world)
I'll stop the world and melt with you
The future's open wide
(Let's stop the world)
I'll stop the world and melt with you
(Let's stop the world)
I've seen some changes but it's getting better all the time
(Let's stop the world)
There's nothing you and I won't do
(Let's stop the world)
I'll stop the world and melt with you
The future's open wide
hmmm hmmm hmmm
hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm
hmmm hmmm hmmm
hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm
I'll stop the world and melt with you
(Let's stop the world)
You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time
(Let's stop the world)
There's nothing you and I won't do
(Let's stop the world)
I'll stop the world and melt with you
(Let's stop the world)
I'll stop the world and melt with you...
