Default Digital developer job - please pass on to anyone who might be interested
I urgently (start before July 2011) need a mid-weight digital developer. Job spec is below, if you know of anyone (or even yourself) looking please let me know. Job is based in Heywood, North Manchester and it's easy to get to via anywhere in the north-west of the UK as it's just off J19 of the M62.

Due to expansion a Heywood based marketing agency is looking to recruit an experienced Digital Developer.

You will be working with blue-chip clients, predominantly in the trade and retail environment.

This agency specialises in strategic positioning and development of clients’ brands, products and services, with a focus on the FMCG sector. You will be joining a small but growing business that is gearing up for significant growth in the future, having laid solid foundations.

Part of the role will involve the maintenance and on going development of an online loyalty programme for one of their key clients. The loyalty programme has been running for over a year but is constantly evolving to suit the needs of the client and forms a significant part of their business.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Digital Developer with an intelligent and dynamic approach and ambition to match. A drive to succeed is essential.


Key requirements:

• Degree level education and 2 years industry experience or equivalent industry experience (5 years +).
• Experience working with, and designing e-commerce systems.
• Experience working with and designing ELT systems (mathematical aptitude required).
• 12 months minimum experience of developing within one of the following CMS environments (including custom extension building and manipulating): TYPO3 (most desirable), Drupal, Joomla.
• Ability to work autonomously as part of a team or on your own.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on windows or OSX (the latter being daily use)

Key skills:

Linux: CLI competency with MySQL and Apache web server as well as standard commands and software such as rsync, tar, wget, URL rewriting, memcached, imageMagicK.

Apache: Ability to create, modify and delete site profiles at CLI level, as well as knowledge of SSL site profiles.

MySQL: Ability to create, update, optimize (including query optimization) and duplicate databases. Full understanding of relational databases, normalization, procedural SQL and stored procedures required. Working knowledge of temporary tables and data warehousing techniques.

PHP: High level of competency with OO PHP (class and object creation and manipulation, extension classes, MVC). Excellent debugging skills, high level of innovation, ability to spot performance bottlenecks and address them.

Javascript: Competency with either JQuery, ExtJS or MooTools.

Front-end development: Up to date knowledge and expert ability in hand coding OO PHP 5, SQL, XHTML, CSS (cross-browser), Javascript, DOM Scripting, AJAX. Competency with Adobe Dreamweaver and knowledge of SVN.

Desirable skills:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks (CS 4/5 versions).
• Understanding of Basecamp online collaboration software.
• An ability to pick up jobs outside of remit at request and self-manage them.

Other information:

• Understanding of networking and Microsoft Sharepoint advantageous.
• Previous Experience of Android or iOS development would be nice but by no means a requirement.
• General technical prowess required.
