Well considering I'd be getting a 2-year contract to get the best price on the phone, I don't think dual core would be a bad investment if I plan on being stuck with the same phone for 2 years. |

The thing you need to consider then if you are going dual core, will the phone you choose get the update in the future that will make it dual core compatible? It's highly unlikely it will get that support. |

Why is it highly unlikely it would get the support? What am I missing here? Is the support for dual core not part of the Android OS, which any android phone can download updates for? What's the point in making a phone dual core if it will never be enabled? Where are you getting this info, etc? Not saying it's not true, but it doesn't make any sense. |

Many manufactures (like samsung) are REAL slow to roll out updates. For instance, the EPIC 4G afaik just got 2.2. So if you bought a dual core phone from say, samsung, then you would be stuck waiting for them to roll out an update to do whatever, like support dual core phones. |

got a HTC TB a couple weeks ago, I aboslutely love it. 4g speeds are unreal, battery life isnt nearly as bad as random internet people say that it is, although, you gotta "keep the foot off the gas pedal" if you know what I mean lol, keep gps/hotspot/bluetooth off when not using them. I use mine all day, texting, facebooking, googlemaps, navigation, phone calls and when I get home Ive got about 20-30% battery life left. Just pluger in and after about 20 minutes or so shes good to head back out.
BTW, the 4g mobile hotspot is .....well....incredible. If your in a good reception area and before the network gets clogged up like 3g, youll be hard pressed to remember your on cell service and not at home on your cable connection, its THAT fast. |

Ah, I got it... Each manufacturer has to add the Android updates... I thought you could just get them as soon as the OS was updated... So, you guys think I should just go for the Droid 2 now instead of waiting for the Droid 3? D3 might have a few nice features/updates, but if dual core's likely to never be implemented, idk... Still using a 4+ year old LG VX9900 (EnV) here [rofl]. As for where i'm getting this info from, i'm getting it straight from the horses mouth. I'm friends with some developers that work on android for google. I've asked them just to be sure again about dual core support. We will either be seeing it in 2.4 (which will still be under the gingerbread title) or we will see it with Ice Cream when that comes out (maybe end of the year for it). The version number for that is tbd. |
