I wouldn't even consider not going. Even better if it is a sudden and mysterious disappearance on my part, people could speculate that I was hijacked by aliens or moved to Zimbabwe or something.

The future, I believe, from an environmental point of view, will probably be quite similar to something like the Highlander films.

Crime and unemployment being rife across the world, just a hellhole to live in.. so no, I'll die in the present thanks, don't think im too interested [thumbdown]
Not too dissimilar from Redcar then.

If there was a portal and somoene from the future (Say 2080) came out and held their hand open and were like "Come with me and leave your present FOREVER", would you be temped to leave?
Only if she's hot! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

But definitely not if it's a guy looking like McGuyver...

In 20 years the main super power in the world will be China. If you think the US are bad at runnin tings, wait til China takes over. I'll bide my time and enjoy the world as it is just now, as it's only going to get more difficult and grim.

Only if there was space travel, and my jump would entitle me to some sort of space craft I could explore with.

If its just to live on planet earth, no.

Dude... 80 years into the future and you think a guy with a Mullet will appear...?

Yeah I'd go... It's the future... if it looks ****, just hi-jack the guy who's travelled back in time to get you... steal his time travel-device and hit REDIAL... home safe.

If I had nothing going for me in this current time, yes. But could I ever leave my family and loved ones behind to go into the future? Most likely not.

You never know, they may be back in style at that point. Look how clothing fashion tends to recycle old styles.

As for myself, I would love to, but I just couldn't leave my loved ones behind. Now if I could find a way back to hijack my soon-to-be-fiance to come with me then maybe haha...

I wouldn't let you go to the future so readily. You WILL PoPSoT, in this time or another! [cursing]

Wow I made it to the future...
Hey guys... I just found this old forum in the Schwarzeneggar World History Museum Digital Archives Circa 2000-2050 (Named after the First World President... Arnie).... It was really, REALLY hard to find an actual computer capable of being able to patch into the space/time continuum. Evidently though I found one.
I'm having to do all this blind because future visual output is entirely holographic but the output for this era was pre-holographic and therefore non-compatible with my mental projection device (they can beam pictures directly into your mind using a relatively painless body modification just under the dermis layer on the forehead).
Anyway I hope I punched in the right date...
The future is kinda sucky though... They stil have tax :( it's at 304.69% and rising bi-anually.
Anyway don't bother spending a lot of money on petrol cars in the next few years because once the BP war commences... they're kinda useless... certainly by 2012 anyway... but that's another story.

Goodbye n goodluck

No freaking way would I go into the future. I don't like where this world is going as it is so why would I want to jump into the future? If anything I would rather go back in time not forward.

Infellgedq 01-18-2011 12:22 AM

The fact that we will be advanced enough to develop a time portal and take people though it tells me that:
  1. There was no world war/nuclear holocaust
  2. The economy is in great shape
  3. The level of technology and therefore standard of life is incredibly high

So I'd probably say yes...

Nzmoafzn 01-18-2011 12:35 AM

i went to teh future once - it was boring so i came home again....

srsly , no , i couldnt leave my family behind.

CitsMoise17 01-18-2011 12:57 AM

I have a family, so i couldn't even begin to think about leaving them behind, especially my four year old daughter, couldn't imagine not being able to watch her grow up, so not a chance.

And then you arrive in the future and discover they need humans that have been displaced from their own time to power the biological machine that allows them to travel through time, one human per trip, and that's why you can never come back...

Try telling your gf you would love to live forever (or a very, very long time). Did this to my gf once and she got really upset.

Or you're humanity's last hope, John Connor!

mirzaterak 01-18-2011 02:13 AM

If you went even 100 years into the future, you would probably spend the first few years playing catchup.

I would much prefer to go back in time say 3000 years where I would have the knowledge to do a lot. Like build an super advanced civilisation by giving people flight and electricity. But then aren't the eyptions meant to of had electricity, so may someone already tried it

ROYMANgo 01-18-2011 11:53 PM

I'd go. Why not?

I've a feeling most of the "yes" people haven't read the op or even the thread title properly...

I have a feeling that you have trouble understanding if someone would make choices that are not necessarily the ones you would make yourself.

You wouldn't go,I would.
