they are both brand name methylphenidates

I just use ritalin, since most people know what that is

the only thing that is different between ritalin and concerta is the delivery system

Wellbutrin... sucks, does nothing, risk of seizure in high doses

Paxil/Zoloft... sucks, does nothing but has undesirable sexual side-effects

Risperdal... helped me sleep... not really an anti-depressant though

Abilify... anti-psychotic, used in small doses to help change depressive thought processes

Effexor... dangerous medication... physically addictive, probably lead to my first suicide attempt

Nortriptylene... sucks, had no effect on me whatsoever

Don't be surprised by that, some antidepressants act in wildly different ways in different people...in fact it is the subject of great controversy that in some subjects that antidepressants can actually exacerbate the problem, hence the need for careful monitoring. There is one hell of a lot of controversy surrounding Seroxat/Paxil (Paroxetine HCl) at the moment...

That and the fact that i have a wonderful husband and sometimes kids help. Don't deny something that could make your life a lot easier though. You have someone around you constantly so he would be able to tell if things were going wrong and get you sorted out. It's always an option, one I wouldn't take for the best part of a decade but when I did it made my life so much easier.

Well you've obviously never entertained the fact...but you should always consider the options, especially after such a stressful incident as that.

Well it makes life that much more pleasant. I am sure many of you remember the 'good old days' when my celibacy used to drive me insane (and one of the contributory factors to my depression). I have never been able to heal the problem, I just don't have the confidence and the time that has elapsed has made it really, really difficult. But I can face it now and not let it bother me.

Yeah one doctor told me that Risperdal might actually be making things worse, great to know when you've been taking it for months.

I have so many emotional problems, I fail to see how a single (or multiple) drug can fix them. This is why I have never sought treatment. That and the fact I don't have the money to do so.

Is there any place where I can get free mental help?

Pardon my ignorance, Verres, but are these kind on depresisons ver common? I am asking not in order to troll, but because I really don't know.

All cases of depression I have knew in my life (directly 2, probably 3 or 4 indirectly - I don't recall exactly) were caused by some change in the life of the people involved (well, the broke up with their gf in many of the cases)

I am certain that ADHD is over diagnosed Im sure you are right. Adhd is overly diagnosed especially in young boys. The first dr told me that my son has no fine motor skills. Im not sure I have meet a bot or man that does. The meds worry me because they do take a toll on the liver, and hes still young.

God knows I would have been put on meds if I was ten years younger.
You know I struggled with this same thing before I put my teen on concerta. But when he started striking his younger sibblings because they made him mad i had not much of a choice.

A lot of my family is on anti-depressants. I find the whole SSRI fad a little distrubing, as well as the whole ADHD medication. I wonder how much it is over prescribed, and this comes from some one who works for the company that makes concerta. I would just think twice about taking any type of medication as they can lead to serious medical problems down the line. My lil sis has been on and off of anti-depresants for god knows what and she takes migrane medicine like it's candy... She has an ulcer, and probably will for life, and she doesn't even drink.

I hated them, I didn't feel like me on them, I just felt like when I was having an attack, it was happening to this person I couldn't control. Plus the blood pressure effect, while helping with migraines, meant I couldn't sprint to the same level, and still can't. I lost the will to try or something, but either way, it stopped me running competatively.

if only the doctor had told me they were anti-Ds as well, rather than blood pressure/migraine tablets. It makes sense now, in that they'd reduce stress, but it was never worth it, IMHO.

If you're talking about Efexor not working as a serotonine raising drug my doctor said it is, as well as affecting other substances in the brain.
