Why the thumbs down? The video makes a great point, it doesn't matter how many gadgets, gizmos and "safety" devices you've got, there's no substitute for being aware of your surroundings.

And do you honestly believe a device which tells you if drivers have seen you is possible?

Funny enough the concept of something like that could be made into Reality and be fitted into all vehicles in the future, but maybe not exactly like that.

Years ago when Sat nav systems started to take off, I realised the potential of having a system in every vehicle that pinpointed vehicles in "real time", basically each vehicle would be "aware" of each and every other vehicle on the road, that way, if you thought of overtaking on a blind corner, and usually only an idiot would do so, But it does happen, The vehicle could alert you somehow, prior to you overtaking.

As is often the case, you need to take your eyes momentarily off the road to read a sat nav, You shouldn't do it but people do it regardless, so looking at a screen in your Peripheral vision to check where a car is that the vehicle your in has alerted you to, could be a life saver, although if your contemplating overtaking the vehicle in front on a blind corner, then you might ignore what the car your in is telling you, anyway.

As long as the system could not be abused, i.e. "big brother" is watching you and all that, Just in case your reading this Gnius, and before you jump down my throat, I think a system like this could be quite easily implemented in the future, but every car on the road would need to have the system installed, otherwise, you'd be driving around with loads of hidden vehicles on the roads that the system wouldn't see.

Give it 50 yrs and I can see it happening for sure.

Pretty obvious its fake though, as the van that hits the bike only skids after the bikes hit.

That's all very well for other cars, but what about cyclists, horse riders, pedestrians, animals, and other obstructions on the road? Such a system wouldn't alert you to any of those.

Well its not improbable to suggest that a system could be carried by others as well, although its not going to alert you to some deer that's around the next corner in the middle of the road, but hey, these things are never perfect!

They'll have no choice once Galileo is live and governments switch to usage based road-tax pricing (using GPS data) instead of the current fixed price road-tax system.

No of course I think it's fake. What I was responding to was this post Pretty obvious its fake though, as the van that hits the bike only skids after the bikes hit. Out of all the things to point out a fake, this point is not one of them. Hence why I was asking if he was being sarcastic.
