Why would you keep sending Xmas cards to someone you haven't heard from for 12 years?
 

Every year we get sent cards addressed to someone who no longer lives here. A card arrived today in fact. We've been living here since 1998, you'd think they would have got the message by now.

Edit: Oh, and before anyone says it, they never write any contact details on them.

They are stupid and YOU Bungle are clever and it's just a shame there's not more of you in the world.

They probably keep thinking they get a card in return every year, not realising it''s coming from a different address.

Burn them! If you get all 17, they come together to form one giant paper monster that would surely destroy us all!

Can't you tell the mail man what is up and they can forward the card back to the sender.

And that sender is thinking - those ****ing people, we've been sending them cards for years and they still haven't sent one back...

All Letters have an Originating Postmark, or a Stamp (not like the sticky postage stamp), so Just write on the Envelope, "No longer at this address" and give it back to the Postman/Woman when you next see them.

Eventually, it will get back to the Originating Post office sorting place in whatever County it was sent from, from that it'll probably get returned to the original sender, they'll probably have opened the card by now and found that its from some Little old Lady called Doris that still thinks that her dear old friend who died 100 years ago, still lives at Bungles house. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

If the cards stop coming, you'll be missing them.. Wondering if the person died or something.

What message would they "get" exactly?

There are many people that have a list of addresses that they send their Christmas cards out to and they can be in the hundreds of people/addresses for every year.

The message that the people they are sending the card to haven't lived here for years.

Hundreds? I don't think so somehow....not unless they are seriously over estimating the amount of friends they've got.

You would have thought after 12 years they would have twigged that they are no longer receiving any communication from the other party. What sort of person sends Xmas cards to someone they never have any contact with for that length of time?

I know many families including my own that sends out over 100 christams cards every year and there is a long list of addresses to send out. Many families send out Christmas cards to people in which they do not receive one in return. Some people use services that send them out for them, they just give the service the list of addresses and the cards. Absolutely nothing out of the norm.

If you'd had no contact at all with someone for over a decade one would expect them to get crossed off the list, otherwise you'd still be sending Xmas cards to people you last spoke to in 1965.

You're telling me there are people who cannot even be bothered to write out their own Christmas cards? As far as I'm concerned if you don't write them yourself you might as well not bother sending them, because you can't care that much about the person they're going to.

I know you said your family sends out "over a hundred", but how many of them actually need to be sent? No one has that many friends and family.

You have to remember some people know a lot of other people. They aren't necessarily going to remember which of these people send them reply's.

the same reason you`ll also get junk mail for other people at your address - someone , somewhere has a name on a list and sends a mail to them , whther its an xmas card or viagra , same thing.
