I've heard this argument a few times, and while plausible, it is of relatively little interest to me as it largely sidesteps the big questions.

Even assuming life began as a result of a comet/meteor, you still are no closer to understanding how abiogenesis could've occurred...you've simply changed the time and place.

I'd definitely like to give the journal article a fair read when I have the chance, though.
