Iphone O2 Simplicity contract launched!
 

Wow just got an amazing deal with O2. They have now launched the iPhone simplicity contract. This differs quite a bit from the original:

Standard Simplicity

1. 600 Minutes
2. 1200 Texts
3. Unlimited internet.

iPhone Simplicity

1. 600 Minutes
2. 1200 texts
3. Unlimited internet
4. Visual Voicemail.

Essentially I get the iPhone contract that is normally £40-£45 per month for £20! So if your contract is running out, give them a ring! This is a rolling 30 day contract, so no strings attached.

Thats a good deal! How much did you have to pay for the iphone?

£450 bought a brand new 16gb one ( someone had traded it that day in CEX ) On top of that it is fully unlocked legally. [thumbup]

Didnt you say you had an N97 before?

I did and it was the biggest POS I ever had! Horrible signal and lack of ram issues, the N97 was traded in against the iPhone. Only thing is I lost about nearly £200 as I bought mine sim free. [cursing] I won't be going back to Nokia any time soon.

hmm do they do this contract without the Ipoo.

DSK I should clarify further.

1. I got the N97 from Vodafone.
2. Suffered horrible reception issues.
3. Sent back twice
4. Third one still rubbish.
5. Kicked off a big fuss with Vodafone who let me out of my contract.
6. Went to Phones4U and bought it sim free ( £489.99, yikes! )
7. Signed up for a simplicity contract with o2
8. Still crap signal
9. Finally fed up, went down CEX to see if anything available.
10. Saw a 3GS, and decided I would get one.
11. Lived happily ever after! [thumbup]

Risco are you sure about the minutes, since the £20 includes 700 minutes according to O2?!

Yeah but i pay £25 a month get the same mins and text's etc but paid nowt for the phone. which is a blueberry. If i'm paying a contract i don't want to have to stump up another £450 for the damn phone. even if it is an ipoo.

Yup, sure about the minutes, this is an Iphone specific contract and not advertised on website. It is basically the iPhone contract without paying the subsidy of the phone itself.

You can get 600 mins with the £35 a month contract.

Lets say you go on the £35 24 month contract. You have to pay £89 for the phone so thats:

35*24+89 = £929

In your case, over 2 years you'd be paying:

20*24+450 = £930

Assuming you're going to use the phone for at least 2 years (£450 is a lot of money for something you're going to use for less than that), I don't see how that's a great deal...

Some people prefer to buy a phone outright, others are running out of contract. It is more for people thinking of leaving o2 as they are paying £45! Think about it http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif

My contract ran out yesterday and I'm going to get another 24 month contract with Orange with a new iPhone 3GS. I still don't see How I can benefit from this Simplicity offer.

Actually buying a phone outright and getting a rolling contract is NOT what simplicity is designed for and is not cost effective as rightly pointed out.
Simplicity and other deals like it are for people that are happy with their older contract phones, and the contracts have ended without wanting to upgrade their phone and/or want a simple alternative to the shoddy PAYG phones but getting the PAYG benefits of no tie-ins.

I mean, why would you want to buy a phone out-right, when you have the phone fully yours at the end of the contract anyway? Yes it would give you some flexibility to move around providers I guess, but that isnt worth the effort or extra money it would cost

Correct! I just change my phones a lot! Besides I did not want to be tied down to O2 if they were crap!

Basically he pays the same but isn't tied down to O2 at all. 18-24 month contracts are all well and good if you're provider isn't crap (some are bad in some areas don't know till you have it) or if you want a better deal/phone within that period. Same cost/benefits as full contract but no commitment. I think it's a good deal.

Because of a deal with work my fiancee has the original iphone 3g, 24 months but at £25 a month.

For what inclusive minutes and texts though?
