I have been trying to get drunk this entire week, since last friday when I started with some time off from work. I have been mildly successful, but I feared that all this alcohol would last me for weeks at the rate I'm going. I tend to sip for long periods of time, and turn to other tasks I am engaged in, which takes attention away from my beer.
But I figured out a solution. I just did a trial for a 6 pack of Rogue Dead Guy Ale, and it worked. I set a deadline for me to drink it. I have set my alarm for 8 AM tomorrow, and will do so for the rest of the weekend. I will write a schedule of when to drink what, when to sleep, and when to eat. This will make sure I get through my large stash of alcohol before I have to go back to work. Yes, I know, it sounds a little too involved, but this week off just hasn't been what I planned. I didn't wake up until 2 PM today, and god knows when I fell asleep. |

Why are you planning to get drunk in such detail?
And before someone questions me on why I'm asking the question I'm being serious here. I have NEVER been drunk, or even slightly tipsy in my life. I haven't even ever drank a full can of beer. The hardest "liquor" i've ever drunk would be Bailey's Irish creme, which is only slightly stronger than a glass of wine at 16% by volume. I drink it for the taste, its more like candy to me than anything else. |

I don't drink at all. Can't bring myself to drink it with the taste and whatnot.
Can't say that I've needed alcohol to have fun either. I have a lot of 'friends' who for fun, drink and drink more. I can't bring myself to join them. I don't know. Seems like those people have nothing other to do than drink and find exotic places to drink more. Isn't there more to life? ![]() But whatever floats your boat man. Just be safe. [surrender] edit: yes, been drunk, wasn't much fun. |

I've spent most of the past 10 days in an alcohol powered stupor. I'm now going back to Manchester to detox for a couple of months. I have friends that don't drink and are happy, and friends that don't drink and are miserable. And the same for my drinking friends. There is nothing wrong with being either a drinker or a non-drinker.

Can someone tell what the actual attraction of getting drunk is? I do drink, but only occasionally, and when I do only a pint or two of Real Ale. I drink because I enjoy it, not to get pissed!
Getting drunk is nothing to be proud of, and it is a major cause of the problems in soceity. According to an article I saw on the news yesterday the NHS is struggling to cope with all the mess caused by drunkards! |

And to be honest, getting drunk and having fun with friends is something to be proud of, however getting drunk because there's nothing else to do then start fighting is not. |

Easier to say and do something you wouldn't normally do but might think of it as fun. Oh and if you have anxiety of existence which many people do, at least a few times in a life time it can feel easier to flow with the time. |

Being drunk i let go more. I do and say the things i'd usually be too self concious to do or say. This results in having more fun but also as well i might feel the need to try it on with a lady where are usually i wouldn't even speak to them. overall usually results in good things. ![]() |

Plus the people I normally drink with have money problems and stopped allowing me to buy them drinks so they don't feel like leaches. |
