I've been having some trouble, but found a solution

I have been trying to get drunk this entire week, since last friday when I started with some time off from work. I have been mildly successful, but I feared that all this alcohol would last me for weeks at the rate I'm going. I tend to sip for long periods of time, and turn to other tasks I am engaged in, which takes attention away from my beer.

But I figured out a solution. I just did a trial for a 6 pack of Rogue Dead Guy Ale, and it worked. I set a deadline for me to drink it. I have set my alarm for 8 AM tomorrow, and will do so for the rest of the weekend. I will write a schedule of when to drink what, when to sleep, and when to eat. This will make sure I get through my large stash of alcohol before I have to go back to work.

Yes, I know, it sounds a little too involved, but this week off just hasn't been what I planned. I didn't wake up until 2 PM today, and god knows when I fell asleep.

Hope you've someone to check up on you - I've had to take people to hospital before who did that sort of thing.

Actually, no. I have no plans to see any people until I go to work on monday.

If I stop posting, you can assume I am dead. It will probably take at least a week for my corpse to be found.

Why are you planning to get drunk in such detail?

And before someone questions me on why I'm asking the question I'm being serious here. I have NEVER been drunk, or even slightly tipsy in my life. I haven't even ever drank a full can of beer. The hardest "liquor" i've ever drunk would be Bailey's Irish creme, which is only slightly stronger than a glass of wine at 16% by volume. I drink it for the taste, its more like candy to me than anything else.

If you've never been drunk then you can't have an educated opinion here, gtfo

I don't drink at all. Can't bring myself to drink it with the taste and whatnot.

Can't say that I've needed alcohol to have fun either. I have a lot of 'friends' who for fun, drink and drink more. I can't bring myself to join them. I don't know. Seems like those people have nothing other to do than drink and find exotic places to drink more. Isn't there more to life? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../confused1.gif

But whatever floats your boat man. Just be safe. [surrender]

edit: yes, been drunk, wasn't much fun.

I love to get off me boat race every once in a while http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

I never made a judgment, or expressed an opinion. I asked a question.

Now why are you so offended by my question? Its not like I condemned the OP for anything.

I've spent most of the past 10 days in an alcohol powered stupor. I'm now going back to Manchester to detox for a couple of months. I have friends that don't drink and are happy, and friends that don't drink and are miserable. And the same for my drinking friends. There is nothing wrong with being either a drinker or a non-drinker.

Drinking by yourself to get drunk as the sole reason sounds like the start of a problem to me http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/unsure1.gif

Can someone tell what the actual attraction of getting drunk is? I do drink, but only occasionally, and when I do only a pint or two of Real Ale. I drink because I enjoy it, not to get pissed!

Getting drunk is nothing to be proud of, and it is a major cause of the problems in soceity. According to an article I saw on the news yesterday the NHS is struggling to cope with all the mess caused by drunkards!

Being drunk i let go more. I do and say the things i'd usually be too self concious to do or say. This results in having more fun but also as well i might feel the need to try it on with a lady where are usually i wouldn't even speak to them. overall usually results in good things.

Easier to say and do something you wouldn't normally do but might think of it as fun. Oh and if you have anxiety of existence which many people do, at least a few times in a life time it can feel easier to flow with the time.

And to be honest, getting drunk and having fun with friends is something to be proud of, however getting drunk because there's nothing else to do then start fighting is not.

Haha. I don't know. If I had anxiety, the thought of getting drunk and the things I could do (wrong) would make me more anxious. [rofl]

Sounds like you would be better off using all that energy to sort things out with yourself rather than exerting so much energy to try to get drunk. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/wacko1.gif

I can understand social drinking, even those who take it too far, but by yourself? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../confused1.gif

Why not? It's not like there's anything better to do. At least if you're drunk you might forget that there's nothing better to do.

Plus the people I normally drink with have money problems and stopped allowing me to buy them drinks so they don't feel like leaches.

Have you, and your friends, ever worked out how much you spend on alcohol a year? It would probably go a long way towards a holiday or other luxery - let alone take a lot of pressure off their financial circumstances?
