Bury money under a giant "W." Why not just deposit it in the bank? You don't make interest when your money is under the ground.

Either way it's simple. People don't put money in a bank when they are trying to dodge paying income (or similar) tax.

Farmers used to do it all the time I've heard.

Heck, maybe they just didn't trust the banks? Good call with some of them after the last couple of years.
