I actually hate police anyway but they once pulled me over, i too was driving flawlessly due to having a stupid fear about them but he pulled me over and said that my number plates were illegal(irrelevant of what the site said that I had bought them off) and that I was causing danger to other drivers...

TBH, the number plate was only slightly italic you could see the letters and numbers perfectly from any distance, and he said "they were highly illegal as they would distract people and cause them to crash"....

I mean ok, I held my hands up - changed the plates and got standard ones nothing on them just so they couldn't say anything again and accepted the fine etc but seriously number plates causing danger? Shouldn't they be stopping someone who is too drunk to see where they're driving, or someone who has a gun in their car ready to shoot someone?! or is that just me?!

Hah, i got crap from the cops here in town this past week. I got a warning sticker on my truck, stating that my truck has been parked in the same spot on the side of the street (side street that is hardly ever traveled) for at least 48 hours. I mean seriously, don't that have better things to do then to site some obscure ordinance and threaten me with a fine to move my truck that isn't obscuring traffic or in the way of any official city vehicle? They did this to the entire town also, which makes me wonder if they are just under a budget crunch or if someone with an upturned nose made a complaint about a vehicle parked to long in one spot (even though it wasn't in the way of anyone).

A few years ago I was with two friends driving back from a camping trip late at night and we got stopped by the police. Ok so a car driving late at night with 3 youths in it could be suspicious but his excuse for stopping us was "erratic driving" when there was absolutely nothing wrong with his driving.

Also I think cars driving slowly are more likely to get stopped by police, but if you only had it just under the speed limit then that should of been ok.

As far as the road blocks, I can see cops really being able to do whatever they want because it is public roads. The government owns the roads, the government pays the officers, so the government can basically do whatever, other than search our car unless they see something inside or get a K-9 to do crazy while sniffing your vehicle.


They do road blocks here, but only during the times that are needed like holidays where everyone gets wasted. They do it for public safety. They try to keep the drunk people off the streets, and is also a scare tactic as well.
Or if they are looking for a fugitive in a near by area, they will do road blocks on all exit routes in a given area.



What I hate most when I get pulled over, is for a dead headlight! Seriously, come on! You have to pull me over to tell me that? Like I already didn't know!!! I actually got pulled over for that a week ago. I am quiet lucky too. My passenger was wasted off his mind, and if the cop had shined his lights on him, both of us would have been asked to get out. That would have sucked, and waste more of my time! I was clean though, same with the car. Though the passenger would have gone to jail for a DUA. [rofl]


They had road blocks in TX on the main interstate! Though I'm sure that is for illegals. I don't mind road blocks because I know where they put them, so I avoid them.



I don't mind cops at all. Yeah, I get pulled over for BS. Sometimes I do get pulled over for braking a law, of which I get out of other than 1 time. Though, I am glad that they are out there doing their duty as an officer and not just watching a movie on their laptop 24/7.
When I have needed an officer, they were there for me too.
Hit and Run on my wife. Usually they always get a way, thought his time, the suspect did not. He got 5 miles away from the scene, and was snagged within minutes and escorted back by the officers! This was after sunset as well, with only a minor description of the vehicle.

I haven't really had any ridiculous experience with cops. The only time I've been pulled over was for speeding. I was driving back from a friend's place that lives on a large school campus at around 2:00-3:00 AM (that seems to be asking for cop attention alone). I was in the middle freeway lane going about 65-70mph (limit was 65) and I was getting closer and closer to a car, so I went in the left lane to pass, got up to 77mph while passing, which was what he clocked me at and he gave me a ticket...

He did ask if there was a reason I was speeding, and I said "no, not really." I didn't think to say I was passing at the time, not that it would've made a difference.

That being said, it was a small city/suburb cop who was given a little jurisdiction over part of a main freeway. This seems to be the kind of cops that are dicks just because they never really have anything important to do.

Big city cops are generally a lot more laid back about things like that. I've done a ride along with one, he pulled over a car of four teens who had a tail-light out, even though he found some things he likely could've held them for, he let them go, probably because they were scared out of their minds [rofl]. These kinds of cops witness murder scenes, and often have to fight suspects, so when it comes to things like that, they're a lot more forgiving since they see the bigger picture, and can tell if people are shaken up enough by being pulled over that they'll think twice about doing something, or having something they shouldn't.

Any copy should be able to pull anyone over who they suspect of drink/driving - there should be no reason required.
I'm sorry but I've seen what scum drink/drivers do - I lost a relative to somebody who felt "safe to drive home" after a few and ploughed into a bus stop.

Numberplate Boy:
It is a known fact that usually when there is one thing wrong with a car there are also many other things.
Stop a car for illegal number plates and you'll quite often find no insurance, no tax, bald tyres etc.
In your case all they found were the numberplates, in many situations they would have found a lot more.
