My college degree is in industrial engineering/civil engineering!
My sister called me and she has lived in UK for 2 yrs gettn her master degree. I have my bachelors degree in civil engineering! If I decide to pursue a career as an engineer....in the UK what can I expect?? The jobs Ive landed here are just autoCAD jobs... mostly from my dad I want a new start |

Qualified engineers over here are ten-a-penny so your CV will need to heavily emphasis (a) specific experience and (b) areas of specialist capabilities. There's plenty of work around, though, if you're prepared to be very flexible in terms of location, salary and contract length:

bsc/beng - you will go onto the incorporated engineer career path with the ICE
Meng/msc - you will go onto the chartered engineer path with the ICE incorporated engineers can do most jobs so don't worry. chartered engineers will go onto project management etc site work and consultancy work is very different. you should probably look into site work if you are looking for something different. you get paid more. engineering jobs are not easy to get here. usually there are multi-stage interviews and assessment days for consultancy, in my experience. check out the Institute of Civil Engineers web site for information. most importantly everything is metric, if you don't like that your stuffed! ![]() |
