Default David Haye vs Nikolay Valuev (David vs Golliath)
Anyone watching this? The guy David Haye is fighting is HUGE! It reminds me of Apollo Creed Vs Ivan Drago

So, I know a lot about Haye ( great showman, great punch with crap defence and a suspect jaw ) Also Haye is very much a blown up Cruiserweight, the Russian weighs something like 7 stones more! I get the feeling Haye is gonna get knocked out, does he have a chance?

I have a feeling that Haye will win. Apparently he has been training against people with built up boots to simulate 7ft.
If it's worked it could make for a very interesting fight!

Looking forward to it for sure [thumbup]

Valuev is not a great boxer, IMO. He just looks scary but he's technically mediocre at best. Will probably be more interesting than the fight between Klitschko and Haye would have been had it taken place.

Why would it be more interesting? Would Haye have beaten Klitschko?

Na, I think Klitschko would have played a very defensive tactic and just used his jab to win rounds. Klitschko's jaw is also suspect, but his technical skills and mental conditioning are superior.

Neither Klitschko is any good. Haye would have had a good chance against either. Which is why they avoided him like the plague and the one that agreed to fight was quick to use Haye's injury and the need to postpone the fight as a reason to call it off.

Haye is a bit chinny but both the klitschko's are too and i think his speed would have made for an interesting fight.

I've not see Valuev fight but he went to points against Hollyfield (in his day a great warrior not trying to detract from that) who is so over the hill its untrue. So i doubt he is any good to be honest.

I'll watch it just for the crack.

...does he have a chance?
No....

He's just too small I think comparatively, it's not just the height of Valuev, but it's his frickin weight, reach and a head made out of solid bone. Valuev is a pretty mediocre boxer, but his sheer mass is definitely his advantage (imagine having him leaning on you during a fight, even that would tire most people out).

Also Valuev weighed in quite trim (for him) at 22st 8lb, the last thing you'd ideally want to fight is a 7ft guy with a spring in his step.

Good luck to Haye though...[thumbup]

How come Valuev isn't a super heavyweight? How the hell can there be a 7 stone difference in the same friggin weight division? Has all decency gone out of boxing?

This is what i was wondering. It seems more like a tacky wrestling match than boxing. That tall bloke looks a bit out of shape compared to Haye though.

they reakon be coming into the ring between 10 and 10:30

as long as haye can move and stay away from valuev he will be ok. which shouldnt be to hard.
valuev has a history of holding as he knows this tires the opponent massively.
id say haye in the 10th

Yeah points he nearly knocked him out in the last round. He was the first person to ever hurt him as he actually wobbled! Not the most exciting fight as he stayed onthe outside and made Valuev miss all the time. Haye reckoned he broke his hand in he second round and that's why he did not go for knockout earlier. Nobody has given so much weight and height away and won so top marks to him!

Fair play to him, it wasn't the prettiest fight ever to watch but he nearly had him over in the last round.

The rest of the fight was pretty much Valuev trying to chase Haye around and hit him, like "ima gonna get you Charles... I'm the Juggernaut bitch"

Watching the fight I could hear this in my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXfY8HIwZjc

That said, looks like I'm not the only one to see the similarity: http://teamfortress.wikia.com/wiki/Heavy_Weapons_Guy

Russian boxer Nikolai Valuev (sometimes typed Valujev) may be the real life person behind the Heavy class. As both of them are Russian, they both are very big and they both look very similar to each other. Not to mention Heavy's unlockable weapon, KGB, or Killing Gloves of Boxing.
