cold turkey doesnt work for me i tried that before a couple times i could only last 24hrs.

patches/inhaler combo seems to work for me. i don't worry much about putting on weight. its almost summer and i can easily lose weight. and i don't think some extra weight for a couple months is as unhealthy as smoking.

seriously tho. i wont be like "oh! everyone should quit bla bla bla ... "

but everyone should [rofl][rofl][rofl][rofl][rofl][rofl] (but its hard)

finasteride 04-17-2009 09:45 AM

the patchs dont work, wast of time and money. while your using them you havent given up anything. if you want to give up smoking just stop buying cigarettes. not drinking tea coffee or alchol for a few weeks will help too

its not really really like punching someone but this weird discomfortable feeling. its hard to explain not even irritability but this weird .... like restlessness ?
Do you have like, kind of a 'buzzing' in your head, and it can be hard to concentrate?

AliceFromHouston 04-17-2009 10:04 AM

i dont hear a buzzing but, it sure is hard to concentrate.

it was saying somewhere to share your decision about quitting it actually does help motivate me. (probably on the nicorette booklet that came with the things)

No, not something you can hear, but kind of 'feel' inside your head. Just part of the overall uncomfortableness. I noticed this the last time I quit smoking, it drove me nuts (and back to smoking, btw lol) I just don't have the willpower to quit yet, I guess. And I hate it...

AliceFromHouston 04-17-2009 10:37 AM

oh i absolutely hate smoking but you know its an addiction + habit after yrs of smoking. i don't blame ppl for not being able to quit just like that.

AliceFromHouston 04-19-2009 01:49 PM

3rd day or 4th day is over [thumbup]

still no smoke [thumbup]

its getting much much much easier. and man i feel a million times better especially in the mornings.

i can't believe how much difference it makes even in a few days from being a heavy smoker (10-15 a day) to this !!!
[thumbup]

i don't feel like punching anyone anymore :D

have a big arsenal of gums - patches - inhalers [rofl]

Lost track of the days! lol.

I can never get over how smokers need a morning cigarette. Inhaling cigarette smoke in the morning is just the most foul thing I can think of. It's like drinking alcohol before 12pm, it's just not right. lol.

Now go give your house and clothes a good clean. A smokers home and clothes are pretty stinky. Well granted those that make it a rule to smoke outdoors only the house is pretty good.

i never ever smoked inside the house or car. :) i have a 5yr old and i never smoke close by.

i don't blame smokers honestly (as i was one a few days ago) its an addiction and a very bad habit that u keep doing for years and years. so its normal that they want to smoke first thing in the morning.

oh well i hope i'll keep this up and never ever smoke again ....

Oh I'm not saying smokers can help the habit. Obviously they smoke in the morning due to the addiction. However already you have said you feel better in the mornings. Less stressed due to lack of nicotine and just feeling more healthy and more fresh. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/smile1.gif

If I've had a smoke in the evenings I know the taste in my mouth when I wake in the morning makes me feel unhealthy. Though I smoke very rarely, maybe once or a couple of times a year.

seriously even healthier feeling i get in the mornings just alone makes it worth keeping this up. and not smoking ever again.

and i absolutely understand ppl who cant quit right away i made the decision a million times before but never kept it longer then 24 hrs until now. but seriously cravings really do get less and less and less.

Have you started coughing up the crap in your lungs yet? That usually starts after a couple days.

Yeah, if you've been off of them for a day or so, you realize just how bad they taste...

meh i just chewed a gum this morning while making coffee and used the inhaler with the coffee :)))

i am sure i was looking stupid with that mini plastic dildo like thing in my mouth but its much easier now [yes] not to smoke.

The first few months are so freackin hard... I was clean for one and a half years and the brutal cravings kept hitting me hard every now and then so i started smoking again. You must quit alcohol and caffine and maybe you'll get lucky. Good luck man.

its weird since i got almost overdosing myself with these patches and inhalers etc. i don't really get the cravings.

pharmacist kept saying i should start with step 2 (i never smoked more then 10/day) but i still started with step 1 of everything. honestly it helps a lot more. i always considered myself heavy smoker even tho they keep saying i'm not.
