Default Gunther von Hagens' Body Words Exhibition
Having just been to the King Tut exhibition at the O2 I notice on the Ticketmaster site they're advertising a new Body Worlds exhibition there. I'm considering going. Has anybody been to one of these exhibitions? What did you think of it? To be honest I'm not sure if I want to go or not. It seems a bit creepy with all those dead bodies all over the place.

I have been to that exhibition before. It's quite fascinating and revealing. I didn't feel like I was surrounded by dead people. It's more like a feeling of walking through stuffed animals in a museum. Not very creepy at all.

Worth seeing in my opinion.

I seen the exhibition in Brick Lane a few years back and I thought it was pretty good, it's more educational rather than ghoulish, though there was one time I was looking at a sliced section of a bloke and didn't think anything of it, it was all plastinated and didn't look real...that is until I saw a tattoo..!, then you realise it's actually a real person...

I decided to go and just booked to see this exhibition on Thursday. Strange when I booked through Ticket Master there was no mention of the audio guide, which I do want. But I emailed the O2 and they said I can hire one on the day.

I thought it was interesting. I assume it's the same one I went to see in Baltimore last year when I was at Otakon.

I threw a apple (and a few tomatoes) at the guy once (demonstation against his exhibition)

He´s a sick ****, and i wouldn´t go see that crap.
It´s not the whole thing, it´s the guy and his very dubious ways of getting the bodies that he needs and the way he presents himself. I believe he´s even been banned from showing the stuff around here.
I would be surprised if he isn´t a necrophilia

There have been several different "Body Worlds" exhibitions. I think this is a new one, called "Body Worlds and the Mirror of Time".

I went today....well yesterday now. It was fascinating, not creepy at all. I spent about 3 and 3 quarter hours in there. I'd recommend anyone thinking of going to go. [yes]

I hadn't heard anything about this. I was under the impression that he was trying to champion the cause of legitimate body donation. Has anything been publicised or is it mostly conjecture dreamed up by squeemish god-fearing types?

well it was on Tv alot back when his media hype was going on a few years ago,
he was accused of having bodies delivered from 3rd world countries, illegally without permission. He was also accused of talking people into donating their bodies whilst on their deathbead, not helping a suicidal person (to not kill himself) who´s body is now in his possession, etc.
Don´t get me wrong here, i think the works rather fascinating,
but von Hagens a sick **** if you ask me.

Being accused of something and actually being guilty of something are two different things.

It's usually best to reserve judgment against people until you have proof to support your accusations.

I think in Gunther's case there's a lot of wowsers out there that would stand to have their personal agendas met by fabricating stories about him. Those "squeemish god-fearing types" that I referred to earlier. They may feel a significant moral objection to the explicitness of what he does, but arguing against it on that basis alone isn't enough. So make up a story that he's stealing bodies and just assasinate his character instead of dealing with their real issues.
