EMT In Confrontation With Trooper Speaks Out.

http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/0509/626636.html story.

ibiDb4uu 05-30-2009 01:06 AM

Prolly more to the story than we see, but I hate/dislike cops as well. The minute you buck their authority in any way they lose it and they are unaccountable for there tempers. Id like to taser the balls off the cops that shocked me.

Everwondopedo 05-30-2009 01:31 AM

Cops are dicks.

"I calmly told the officer that we were transporting a patient and we could continue this at the hospital." They had someone in their ambulance. People don't hop in an ambulance for fun... The cop should get suspended without pay at the very least. Preferrably fired. IMO ambulances and police cruisers should have equal priority when they're on the job. If he's transporting a patient he shouldn't have to yield to the cop.

The cop showed blatant disregard for the health of the patient in the ambulance by delaying his arrival for trivial bullshit.

White says the trooper then approached him and shouted "you are under arrest for obstructing a police officer" and grabbed his arm to handcuff him. He could have potentially killed the person in the ambulance because he had to prove how huge his **** is.

RsQhyZyR 05-30-2009 01:37 AM

How can a police officer pull over an ambulance with a patient in it? Like on what grounds or in what scenario does one emergency vehicle have precedence over another? I cannot believe that the ambulance driver even stopped.

Does anyone really find these types of generalizations acceptable? Is this statement in any way different than saying "I hate/dislike [race, religion, sexual orientation, etc]"

Read it all the time here from internet toughies. Immature bullshit.

You hear of a couple of unfortunate incidents involving the police and automatically, according to you, all police are arseholes. [rolleyes]

The police are made up of human beings. Like any large organisation there's going to some idiots but that doesn't make them all one.

gundorana 05-30-2009 03:35 AM

Life's too short, and our monkeysphere is too small, to care about everyone and not generalize. I'm not a big fan of racism, but at least a job description is small enough that your hate doesn't expand beyond a small group. It's job hate, not people hate. Cop is a job, lesbian is a way of life. You can quit a job. I hate the uniform, not the man. Ok, well, I hate the cops I've dealt with as people, but every new cop I meet I dislike him for the uniform, not for who he is. If I saw him out of uniform I'd feel no ill will towards him unless he's a douchebag as a person.

It seems that the job turns people into douchebags. I can't say I've met any nice cops. There was the bogus speeding ticket. The "it's ok for your parents to punch you in the face" cop. The "hit and run is fine, enjoy your deductible" cop. Oh yeah, the "turn down your stereo don't you know it's the middle of the day" cop. I'm sure there are more, but I can't remember the last time a cop was useful. Every time I need one they're useless or not around. Oh yeah, the "so what if they stole your car, call a lawyer" cop.

Edit: I think the stereo cop was just pissed because he originally followed the wrong car. There were these two hotties bouncing around in their car, and then there was me. Just chilling there, looking all business like. So instead of getting to stop some hotties he got me instead.

Voliscietle 05-30-2009 04:53 AM

During my life i´ve met alot of cops,
And i gotta say that most of my encounters were o.k.
Even though i was the "bad guy".

On the other side, those that were dicks, were unbelievable assholes.

The only way I can see 1 emergency vehicle having priority over another is if 1 has their lights/siren on and the other doesn't. I couldn't see anywhere in that article that says the ambulance had it's lights on, and it could have just been transporting the patient between hospitals.

Either way the cop's attitude and behavior was appaulling.

On the basis that one is a career choice I'd say yes it is different. Tax men, Traffic Wardens, Lawyers, IT Techs, yeah I think it's fair game to generalize about them.

Turning on your lights doesn't necessarily confer priority to you. You turn the lights on for safety and awareness but rights like exceeding the speed limit exist whether you have the lights on or not. Generally I believe fire trucks have first priority, then ambulances, then police cruisers.

Im a car salesman, we pretty much corner the market on being despised. So get over it.

There's nothing for me to get over. I'm simply here to state the facts: prejudices are wrong, police are vital civil servants, and you're a nitwit.

vulikox 05-30-2009 11:20 AM

I think I'd be really concerned if an ambulance my mother was in was stoped by police. I don't think they should have stoped with a patient. Fortunately it's lucky she wasn't in a too serious condition. This cop obviously was having a bad day.

orgagsUpsepsy 05-30-2009 11:45 AM

Wow, just wow!

I mean apart from the obvious, the cops pulling over the ambulance and then assaulting the medic.

Obviously the cops did not need to get by the ambulance that quickly, as they spent alot of time pulling them over and argueing about how they are trying to serve the county.

I'd seriously consider firing them if I was their boss.

/and I don't have any axe to grind with cops, especially american cops as I have never had anything to do with them!

QXCharles 05-30-2009 12:04 PM

Sorry but everybody defending police... shut up, unless you are a cop that is a reasonable person every day then you are just spouting crap to argue.

I have been around probably a dozen cops in my life, luckily none of those situations involved me directly, but I had the misfortune of being present, I would say 2 maybe 3 of them were reasonable and did what they were supposed to do.

The rest were power trip douche bags that oozed mouth breathing moron with a gun.

RichardFG435 05-30-2009 12:11 PM

Obviously there is more to this then meets the eye..

As to cops. Some are real dickheads.. the majority tho? I have no problems with them. Treat them with respect and you will get along fine with them.
