Oh my word, and I thought Winnipeg's potholes were the worst. I couldn't imagine driving around and suddenly find myself in the ground cause I was looking at that seductive billboard instead of the road.

Hell, even if you were paying attention, it would be hard to avoid a hole if the roadway just collapses below you.

On a side note, when does a pothole become a sinkhole?

Camera phones have allot to answer for in terms of qulity of video these days. We've got ultra HD video, yet the average phone still have less than VGA resolution in video mode, and heavily compressed to boot!!

Thatt's because they're phones and not video cameras. If you want HD quality buy a camcorder.

Yeah, but the average phone has had abysmal quality for years, and doesnt seem to have improved! Still pics are much better, but the video hasnt improved one bit.

I'm sure it comes down to processing power.

Cell phones neither have powerful processors nor processors suited to doing video encoding. I'm sure uncompressed, the videos would look great, but it would fill your memory way to fast. So therefor, it must be compressed down, and that's where the problems come in.

Because that's all people use the video function on their phones for apart from the odd youtube clip. Why should the manufacturers improve something that works well enough for the purpose it's intended for?

I can't help but chuckle at the people that just wander over to the edge to peek in, especially when it collapses further. It never struck them that with such a significant cave-in, the part of the road they're standing on might also cave in?

back on topic - it's not a 'pot hole' but rather a 'sink hole' - do a quick search and you'll find some that are hundreds of times that size. Some appeared under houses and people have died.
Damned scary, IMO!
