F1: Wins will decide Title
Oh dear, it was all looking so promising for the end of the month [surrender]
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/7948455.stm |
'Had the new rules been in place in 2008, Lewis Hamilton would have lost the title to runner-up Felipe Massa."
So i see the real reasoning behind this [rolleyes] |
So now the teams have to choose which one is the leading driver and allowed to win...

Hamilton: 4 win rest 0 points Raikkonen: 3 win, 7x second, 2x 3rd.. Oh Hamilton wins[thumbdown][thumbdown] |

Yet the Ferrari/Massa boys were moaning on last year that Massa won more races than Lewis! That would be my ideal scenario to be fair, Lewis winning on race wins but losing on points. Show the FIA it's not that hard to take back the championship. |
The biggest problem for me (and I have lots of problems with this rule) is that just say one driver wins the 1st 9 races, I just wont bother watching the other 8, and I imagine viewing figures will drop dramatically, I was really looking forward to this season and this news has spoilt my day [cursing]

This is going to cause some real kamikaze driving, as DuranXL pointed out theres not much diff for a driver whos going for the title to come out 3rd or 4th or not finish.
In a highly unlikely even of equal wins, then only the points matter, otherwise its meaningless. I think the other proposed system of 12 points for a win was better. |
they could of acheived the same result by just giving drivers points for the first 3 places. somthing like 10 for a win, 5 for second and 2 for third.

Sigh, imo its a stupid idea. The current point system works and why change it? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/unsure1.gif
While they're at it, why not introduce the call/text vote like american idol for the viewer to choose the race winner http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/excited1.gif. The race is like the stage performance and you can vote during the race and winner will be announced after the race is finished [thumbup] |
Aaa great when you think they can't screw it up any worse , they just did http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cry1.gif

My only grip is that it rules out anyone like Kubica last who who was in with a shout simply through consistency rather than wins. Still, to me it means the most consistently fastest will win. |
Let's hope the stewards don't decide to take away anymore race wins, *cough* Spa *cough*
|
They should simply count the times from each race and then add them up for a final Total Time for the season. Then arrange the list by Total Time and that's that [thumbup] No ifs or buts. If you don't finish a race, add a minute or two to the slowest finish time, but not too much so it's not just driving safely to finish...
For separate races, maybe do two time trials and then add the fastest x laps to the race time and that would decide per-race positions, ie. 3 fastest laps from Time Trial 1 + 3 fastest laps from Time Trial 2 + total race time = final time. That should lead to some extreme driving [thumbup] And that would keep it interesting until the very last race [thumbup] |

They should bring back the old set of rules from like early nineties. Those ****tards who change the rules every season should be shot. |
ye and +1 for fastest lap

they almost went with a 12,9,7,5,4,3,2,1 system i think. that might have been good.
|
Keep the points system the same, just make first place worth 12 points.
Twats. |
