uploading to youtube
 

Does it always take ages for it to complete? I am uploading a 90MB file and my internet connection is not doing much..

I made a nice video last night and will share it, but heck I want a little speed in this upload. [thumbdown]

Typically your upstream is only a fraction of your downstream so it will take significantly longer to upload a video. Once the video is uploaded it is going to take some time for the video to be converted and then made public.

I know about the difference about up and downstream , haha! But it takes alot longer to upload this to the site than I would to another website.

My connection icon , bottom left on screen, blinks on and off... Arghh! But it is a nice video.. hopefully I please some of you guys with it, involves my work. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif

It's probably not a problem with your connection. Youtube's video upload speeds are horrible. According to Youtube, it can take from 1-5 minutes per megabyte depending on traffic. Theoretically, a 10MB file could take anywhere between 10-50 minutes to upload. 90MB file could take up to 8 hours at its worst (or 90 minutes on a good day).[thumbdown]

I just found a page that lists a few people's average upload times, and it looks like a 100MB file usually takes about 2 hours for them, on average.

So I guess you're just going to have to be realllly patient, or convert the video to a smaller format.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

Well I converted it to 90MB from a 300MB file, so that is small enough. It definately may not lose any quality more than it has.

If I am tired of it.. I'll upload it at a time I don't use the PC at all. ( sometime this weekend) But I would have liked it to be able to share it now. [yes]

Interesting, I never even knew that, I must have been lucky and uploaded videos during slower hours. Then again I have only uploaded a couple videos. With the insane amount of media constantly being added to YouTube, it certainly isn't surprising though.

I've found the Multi-Video Upload feature to be faster than the regular single file one.
