Default Work related horror stories
Bored and need something to do so I come to the here to ask. I have few tales of my own to tell though I will share what I can.

I worked at Arby's for two years and during those two years I came to the conclusion that there is no hope for mankind. We have simply grown too stupid to survive. I have proof to back up my wild claims as well. People asked for burgers as in McDonald style burgers many times and with insistence even after being told we don't have any. Worse yet, there was a McDonald's right across the street and quite visible from my place of work. This is but a small sample of the level of stupidity I had to deal with people.

Right now I've gotten luck in my current job as I work as an IT intern though I still believe that we are doomed. There have been a couple of facepalm moments when talking to people about computer technology. I have gotten to the point that I don't attempt any type of over the phone support if I can help it. Except for a couple of minor issues, I'm much happier here than at Arby's.

What's been the worst you've experienced?

I was at Burger King the other day, and a lady walked in with KFC coupons and tried to order some chicken. When she was told repeatedly she was at the wrong restaurant she then tried to talk them into making KFC style chicken for them. And just like with your Arby's, the KFC/LJS was right next door.

I was at my bank and the lady's PC was running slow. She blamed the weather. Maybe its just me, but when its snowing outside my copy of Office doesn't load slower than usual.

I get all sorts of interesting stories from my friend in DSL repair. People are beyond stupid. I have no idea how these people make it through life.

we have a client who's still active by now who asked us to create a website for them.. at first they said it was all up to us on the design, so i made them one..they kept on approving and approving and when everything was done they just suddenly said "nah, this doesnt work for our company,do another one" so i asked my superiors on what to do, and they said theyll talk to the guy.. after some days, even my superiors caved in and said we're just going to have to make a new design. so i did, and this kind of scenario repeated 3 times more. i didnt know who's head i wanted to bash in first, my superiors or the client's.

on the final design, everything i made sure to my superiors that they NEED to make sure with the client that they dont have any complaints about the website.. and true enough, they didnt..so everything is uploaded and running.. and then one of their guys call me directly saying thay no they dont want it AGAIN, because the website doesnt expand to the whole window.

insert huge facepalm here

"I bought this printer from you about 6 months ago and it's stopped printing Red, I've changed the Blue cartridge but it's still not printing Red? What can I do?"

"Erm? Replace the Red cart maybe?"

When I worked for a trainer store, I had so many stupid people coming in and asking totally idiotic questions, to name a few:

Customer: 'scuse me, where are your trainers?
Me: (Stood in front of a wall full of trainers) Er...they're here behind me.
Customer: Oh, I didn't see that.

Seriously, how can you not notice a 10x10ft wall of trainers?

Customer: Can I get these in size 8?
Me: Sorry, we only got them in size 13
Customer: Can I try them on?

Tell me how your foot has magically grown 5 sizes in the space of 10 seconds. I end up getting it only for them to tell me it's too big. Well gee, I wonder why.

A while ago I was inputting forms in to the computer for the council. In one section you have you have to list people who are living with you; one person had listed their dogs and given them surnames!

Another section asks for your nationality; someone had written "Church of England".

Hahahha! Weather?! I have heard stuff like that before, it may be beyond stupidity but it's so full of humour! [thumbup]

Anyway, about making through life. A good and a real, real truth that you don't have to be a rocket science to live a life even though it's hard.

Having previously worked at a major department store on Oxford Street for 7 years (not Selfridges, the green one) i have far too many dodgy experiences to list.

One of the more bizzarre experiences though, happened when i had a broken hand in plaster. I was serving a married couple probably in their 50s. They had a bit of a hippy look to them. I had just finished charging them for their items and handed back the ladies credit card when she looked at my hand and said "Oh dear, whatever happened to your hand?". I explained how i had been jumped by a group of people while out with a few friends and had shattered my hand in self defense. The lady replied "oh that's awful, but i can fix that in 5 minutes. Just hold out your hand, i promise it wont hurt".

Slightly nervous, but at the same time fascinated, i held out my broken hand. She held both her hands above mine and started moving them in a circular motion and chanting while her husband erupted into some strange dance, spinning on the spot and throwing his hands in the air. The lady then started shuddering and screaming really loud, by this time everyone within 50ft had turned around wondering what the hell was going on! I was trying my best not to piss myself with laughter but at the same time it was totally embarrassing.

Finally, they came to a stop and the lady, still totally serious, said "There you go, does it feel better now? You should find the bones are totally healed by the time you get home. Bye!"

I've wasted my life away on that website for the past day.

Although some of the stories seem far-fetched.
