Was it on the street or roaming about the Park?

Hope that's one careful turkey. The south end of the Park can be treacherous -- especially after dark.

It was just on the other side of the wall in the park, walking around in the rain.

While walking my dog through the Ramble in Central park a few days ago,
I saw at least 3 turkeys in the small meadow just below Belvedere Castle.

I think that ^ is what Pacino is doing in this scene from a movie that was shot partly in The Ramble back in the dark days.

Funny thing about those turkeys... about 10 years ago turkeys started showing up, in a big way, throughout Connecticut. What used to be a very rare sight in the 1960s is now commonplace.

Maybe it has something to do with a healthier environment, or more responsible use of pesticides? Who knows...all I know is, they're BACK. Cool!!

Numbers are up everywhere in these parts:

Wild Turkey
Shy, wary birds, wild turkeys are a woodland bird that prefers mixed areas of forest and farmland. They are social creatures, usually found in flocks ...

... The wild turkey disappeared from New York State in the mid-1800s due to uncontrolled hunting and clearing of forests. Today, after decades of active restoration projects, the wild turkey is one of America's greatest success stories. Nationally, wild turkey populations have increased from around 450 thousand 50 years ago to more than 3.5 million in 1990.
Out in Wisconsin they're taking over ....
