Default Pro rata?
If a job pays £15,000 per year pro rata for 12 hours per week, what does it mean?..

it means you'll earn about £4,700 a year. i think. pro rata means thats what you'd earn if you worked a standard 38 hour week for the year. if its only 12 hours, it'll work out that you'll earn about 3 times less.

Pro rata usually means "based on fulltime" or "nominal" working hours.

e.g - you'd say that someone would get "30 days holiday per annum pro rata". If that person started work for example from 1st May onwards, then that person would get the applicable fraction of the 30 days based on their starting date.

In order to get an accurate idea in your case, you'll need to know how many hours the organsation considers to be a fulltime week - as then you'll know what fraction of that salary you will get for your reduced hours.

Pro-Rata means "We're too embarrased about the wage we're offering to list it accurately"
