I'm the opposite, I worry about getting too much sleep.

I can't sleep when I'm not tired, I have to feel like I want to sleep, and not go to sleep just because it's time.

If I try to sleep when I'm not tired, I'd lie there with my mind going at 100mph thinking about random stuff, which means I'll never fall asleep. I will also dream a lot, which IMO is wasted sleep.

If I go to bed when I'm tired, I'd fall asleep within 20-30 mins and get solid sleep until my alarm goes.
The reason you don't feel tired is because your mind is racing and not the other way around. If, with meditation or something else, you could manage to slow down those 100mph brain activities then you'd feel tired and sleepy...

I just found out that bad sleep (like mine) can cause a drastic drop in testosterone levels too!

I get up at 8:30 PM. I work nights. I sleep somewhere from 2-5 hours a day. Takes me awhile to fall asleep and I wake up several times. I don't work until 11:00 PM but I take the bus so...

I get home usually between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM depending on overtime.

I used to work 4:00pm until 12:00/2:00am. Always woke up fresh around 10/11am, with no alarm going off. If I can wake when I want I'm alright, but I hate being forced to wake by an alarm! Now I'm doing 8am-5pm, I always struggle in the mornings. I think I'm more of a evening/night worker.

Yeepee Ka Yey!

Non addictive, non-carcinogenic sleeping pill without any truly noticeable side effects or overdose accidents, non-scheduled drug!

I just hope it doesn't cost a fortune...

I have a really odd insomnia problem...

I keep worrying about not having enough time to sleep because when I do sleep it ends up being 10 hours or so. Even if I go to bed real early - I still worry about it.

I also worry about sleeping through the alarm because normally I wake up at 9 AM but I have to wake up at 7 AM to go to work.

Whats most amazing is that when the alarm goes off - I end up relaxing in a way I couldn't relax the whole night.

Its really weird.

cauddyVab 07-31-2008 03:11 AM

I'm pretty much the same way. If I know I have to get up earlier than normal, I'll worry that I won't hear the alarm or something. When I'm trying to fall asleep my mind will always be like "OK, if I fall asleep now, I'll get 9 hours...ok now 8 hours...ok now 6...." and so on. Once that alarm goes off and I hit snooze, it is the best sleep I had all night. http://discussworldissues.com/forums...lies/cool1.gif

Yeah, me too. I can't sleep well when I know I won't be able to sleep as long. Takes me forever to actually go to sleep.

Get up at 4.30am every work day.

You will sleep.

Worst thing is, you will always be tired, it totally sux[no]

Unfortunately, for most people, night time generally consists of your brain going wild, and sometimes the thought of not getting enough sleep gives you a bit of anxiety. Also, keep in mind that we generally have to "force" ourselves to fall asleep due to the amount of sleep needed to have a fresh start in the morning. I find that the best sleeps around are when I literally can't keep my eyes open and NEED to sleep. Unfortunately, that is generally during the day http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/laugh1.gif

cialviagra 07-31-2008 03:54 AM

do what i do. i need to be up for work at 4:30am so i set my alarm to go off at 3:30. I wake up, reset my alarm for 4:30, crawl back in bed and get a solid hour of sleep. its heavenly.

edit: oh and it also helps that i have 2 other alarms set for 4:30 just so i am absolute certain that when i go to bed at night i will be awoken in time for work.

Ya but that doesnt work for some, I would kill myself if I had to be tired everyday especially if I had to up in the morning and be tired..

Anyway I have same problem. If I go to bed between 8 pm to 12 pm then I sleep top 6 hours and wake up really weird..[no]

I use tea http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/smile1.gif
I used to use beer but on the long term that isn't really healthy [no]

Tea works, but I fine the caffeine hits me soon after so it actually hinders my sleep! Beer is bad, but I'm a weekend drinker, so it's not really too much in a week for me. [yes]

Actually, beer isn't bad at all, only in excess. Having a few beers a night can actually be healthy for your body. Obviously, drinking a 6-pack probably won't do you any good. However, if I have a couple before I go to bed, it serves to relax and ease my mind a bit.

VIDEOHITE 07-31-2008 09:08 AM

I must be lucky. I can fall sleep whenever i want. wake up rarely tired, even after only 3 hours of sleep. I think not drinking any caffeine helps make that possible

nemoforone 07-31-2008 08:29 PM

Damn. Same thing happened last night.

What I don't understand is how I manage to almost not sleep at all and yet come to work, function well, and eve go the gym and lift weights.

I freaking hate the stress I get when I try to sleep. The problem is that there is no reason to be stressed out. Everything is fine. There is nothing bad going on in my life right now. So, why the hell do I keep getting stressed out...and ONLY when I go to bed.
