Thanks, and for peoples info, I just started and I'm a Customer Service Supervisor. I didn't join there specifically for the employee discount, but it certainly affected my choice.

And thank you for the Plasma vs. LCD explanation. Since I can get a huge discount on the protection plans, I should probably take the Plasma route and just have it replaced whenever it cocks out.

You have to work there for 10 days to be eligible and I haven't reached that yet. So I don't know the exact way they figure it since I can't look it up yet.

Well Circuit City doesn't seem to carry Pioneer so I would recommend the Samsung LN52A750, It's very likely the best LCD currently available, I have the 46" version in my living room, the blacks are as good as it gets for an LCD.

Yes indeed, that's the set I was thinking of. If you aren't bothered by ghosting, and with this panel's 4ms response time, you probably won't be, an LCD like this is a good choice (especially if you do a lot of gaming).

If you watch a lot of movies or SD cable broadcasts, a plasma might be better.

I actually get pretty good SD quality on my set, and Ghosting is not really much of an issue for me either, I use it a lot for gaming, and am very happy with my set, the Black level really is superb once you get the set adjusted properly.

I would highly reccomend the Samsung LCD's. If you want to go plasma, you can't go wrong with Panasonic.

Either set would be amazing. I wouldn't count out Samsung DLP's either specifically the LED ones. If you can get around the viewing angle problems.

Default What's the best TV I can buy from Circuit City?
I'd just like to know from those that have been in the know.

And can someone express the differences and advantages of Plasma versus LCD?

Then maybe you should gather up a little more knowledge about the products that are being sold in the store you work at.
There´s nothing worse than a salesman trying to sell something without a ******* clue what he/she´s talking about.

Not dissing you here, just a friendly tip.

Ok guys, answer his question(s) or don't post, simple as. Maybe he doesn't work in the TV department, and maybe he's already asked a co-worker but wants second opinions.

I don't know the best TV you can buy from CC, but I can add something about LCD vs. Plasma.

I've owned both, and both seem to have certain advantages. Plasma has no motion blur/ghosting, MUCH better black levels, and looks amazing in dark room. However, plasmas can be prone to image retention, grainy pictures, reflections off the glass (if the room is bright) and are REALLY hot. LCDs are better for bright room viewing, run cooler, don't have as grainy of a picture, and have no problems with IR whatsoever. However, they can have dead/stuck pixels, DO have crappier black levels, and of course there's ghosting/motion blur.

Modern plasmas don't suffer too much from IR, but it can and will happen if you aren't careful. If you're willing to spend major money, you can get an LCD with darn good black levels (the newest Samsung series, afaik).
