So why does it look like a BMW 3? Since when are american designers copying other brands like the koreans?

On topic, the ad is pretty funny, cool!

Umm, it doesn't look like a BMW, it looks like a pontiac. If you are talking about the twin nostril thing guess what. Pontiac has been doing that for a very long time. Both BMW and Pontiac have favored the twin nostrils on the grill for a long time.

From that commercial it looks very similar to the GTO. I wonder if they just put a new badge on another holden again.

Yep, that is basically what they have done.

Though it seems like most RWD from Chevy will be that way now. I have not a problem with it because Holden is doing a fantastic job at what they do.
The new Camaro was basically built by Holden.

With the GTO and the G8, Holden has been able to offer us awesome vehicles for an insane price so I will not be complaining about anything that comes from them!

I used to play that game, and loved it, but I thought that the Commercial was only ok.

Dunno, just reminds me of a BMW. With a little bit of Opel/Vauxhall/(GM?) in it. But I´m not saying it looks bad, not at all.

So the car in the link provided was designed by the Holden design team? It's just that we don't have that car in Australia, so I've never heard of this. Though I think GM is really taking note of the team they have in Australia, basically any Holden that is designed in Australia is going to be built for export market. Car manufacturers in Australia must build for the export market to compete, as it costs a lot to develop a world class car yet our market isn't all that big.

Ford has yet to join the party, and they are financially hurting! Their new falcon is not made for export and IMO they have screwed up the new design. Mitsubishi has just closed doors... it's a tough game here.

The new Holden Commodore, and Vauxhall VXR8 are the exact same thing as the G8.

The Zeta platform is Australian designed, and they have had a hand in making all of the Zeta products so far. Though there is a Zeta plant now in China, and one is being flexible converted in Canada, so soon, Holden may not have a hand anymore with the platform becoming more diverse and moved outside of Australia.
I even do believe that GM had Holden help them work on the new ZR-1. If I remember correctly, all of the original spy shots of the new Corvette and Camaro were taken down under.

Though the Camaro will be built in Canada, but the G8 is currently made in Australia, just like its older GTO brother.

its still just a commodore. sure its got a nice engine, rwd, big size, but the interior will fall apart, things will break, and it will lose value quickly.

but thats what americans like..... thats all that GM makes, and people still buy the stupid things.

That holds true for pretty much all cars in the US, GM or otherwise.

oh, for those wondering and calling it a bmw look-alike

this is the commodore.

pontiac changed the grill to the two nostril thing. and the latest commodore's design is an evolution of an evolution of an evolution of an opel omega. (lotus carlton is also the same thing)

before you guys say "oh its the billion dollar baby" "its brand new" etc etc, it still is an evolution, becuase they would not drastically change it to keep the commodore userbase happy. sure it looks a bit different, and underneath it is different.... but they wouldnt be able to call it a commodore if it was too different, which is why i still claim its just an evolution.

lol, you have no clue do you? Been inside any recent GM vehicles by chance? If you haven't noticed, a lot of what they offer is being improved greatly and being top rated.
Also, if you haven't noticed, everything except for Toyota, Honda, and Acura, don't hold any value. BMW's are no exception.
The Pontiac GTO is actually holding its price tag pretty well, though I am sure that there will be a lot less of these once the G8 is out for a while.
So what if it loses value more so then something else, at least you already saved $15,000 from a loaded G8 to a baseline BMW 535i, which is its main rival in size, but is able to even top a BMW 335. Supposed to be pretty comparable in interior quality and comfort also from the reviews that I have seen.
It really is the fastest, and the best quality all a round car that you can buy for less then $30k, and rivals competition all the way up into the $50k land mark.

Also, don't forget that this is only the GT that we are talking about. Wait for Pontiac's GXP and be blown away!!!

That completely didn't answer my question...

Is the Camero designed by the Holden team?

I already know the G8 is a Holden product.

From what I heard is that they helped. I am not sure if they were solely behind the project, but from what I heard, is that it was designed and tested down there with Holden's help.

yes, many gm vehicles, hated every one of them.
we've owned a commodore before. my freinds have commodores. they are all dogs. give them 5 years, you will see.

i have noticed, thats exactly why i do not buy and will not buy ford or holden. subaru holds their value quite nicely. thats why we have 3 of them, and two nissans.

bmw doesnt hold its value becuase of the high price it comes with to start. good quality cars that are close to the same price brand new as crappy cars are the ones that hold thier value best, i am quite aware of that.

see commodore and falcon, versus accord, liberty(legacy) etc.

you have not been in a new commodore. its more plastic fantastic, like commodore has been since it started.

i know your money is different to ours, but if you ONLY compare POWER to DOLLAR ratio, then yes, a v8 GMH is the "best".

gxp will be gts, yes?

ive already seen it we've had them for a year now? they are ugly. they are fast in a line. they are not high quality.

thank-you, but i have more of a clue than you do.

I'd have to agree with bluff that Ford and Holden cars depreciate in value like a wh0re gone on crack. I don't think I could ever buy one new.

They are perfect to pick up 2nd hand 12 months down the line for half price and low kms. [thumbup]

As long as you take care of your commodore or falcon they should keep together alright. A lot treat them like throw away cars and it shows. Look at BA falcon taxis, they are something shocking. However step into my BA and it feels almost new and doesn't feel like a worn out old piece of ****.

As long as you service the things the engines should keep clicking along just fine for years.

they are good for the 2nd hand buyer, i'll give them that.

they do break, but becuase there is so many of them they are cheap to fix.

wouldnt you rather a car that doesnt break as often in the first place?
