Was the package you got advertised as "8mb" or "up to 8mb" ?

libertiespana 01-13-2008 09:18 PM

I've got the Tier 2 package in my area, which is 8mb down, but only 768k up http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ilies/sad1.gif. Can't complain about download speed, or ping for the most part. However, upload sucks. Should be far more for what i pay per month.

Test is in KBits/s btw. Works out to 3,191kbytes/s down, but only 89k up. With Vuze on a featured I typically don't see more than 1600KB/s down, but can see up to 130KB/s up.

I am not sure what is up with Comcast, but I know that their stuff isn't straight.

Everyone that I know except for me that has Comcast gets like 25Mb/2Mb but I still only get 6Mb/384Kb, what I am supposed to have. Sort of makes me a little made. If I was getting over 2Mb I would have a smaller server up right now.

Plus their On-Demand service and even their channels have been acting extremely wacky lately.

With their currently quality of products, I have not been liking what I have been seeing. I used to really enjoy Comcasts service but I can't stand it now.
For the Wild Card playoffs, of all channels, their HD channel with one of the games was all glitchy and what not. Of all channels! It was down the entire game. [thumbdown] So I had to watch it in SD instead of 1080i. [cursing]
Hope this doesn't happen on the Super Bowl. If it does I will be sure to complian A LOT and make sure that I get something free.

Why you so crazy you no want Comcast, you hungry for Fios!

Now with 20 meg symmetrical service. Not available in all markets, but for $65/month it's sweetness.

I should disclose that I work for them though.

what about this: is COMCAST still does this? Network-level filtering means your Internet service provider – Comcast, AT&T, EarthLink, or whoever you send that monthly check to – could soon start sniffing your digital packets, looking for material that infringes on someone’s copyright. “What we are already doing to address piracy hasn’t been working. There’s no secret there,” said James Cicconi, senior vice president, external & legal affairs for AT&T. Mr. Cicconi said that AT&T has been talking to technology companies, and members of the M.P.A.A. and R.I.A.A., for the last six months about carrying out digital fingerprinting techniques on the network level. “We are very interested in a technology based solution and we think a network-based solution is the optimal way to approach this,” he said. “We recognize we are not there yet but there are a lot of promising technologies. But we are having an open discussion with a number of content companies, including NBC Universal, to try to explore various technologies that are out there.”
