In Holland you have medical centers. In which several houde doctors are located.
If your own doctor is away, holiday or time off someone else take over and they cover your region.. Stitches are mostly done by normal docs, and hospital (ER) are usually for the more severe cases, like big cuts.. and fractures.. falls from heights etc.. ( the more life threatning things) |

so tell me people with a small cut that has to be stiched, u gotta see the emergancy room for in hospital ? Most A&E depts also have a dedicated minor injury unit, with a doctor that deals with sprained ankles, broken wrists and lacerations etc all day. I'd much rather they sewed me up than my GP! The real drain on resources in A+E comes from young people with coughs and colds, chronic problems that haven't been to their GP, anxiety about normality and poor health education. If you can't get an appt with your GP tomorrow track down your local GUM walk-in clinic, they'll be able to take a look and investigate further if needs be. If you need help finding one PM me the general area you live in and I'll see if I can track down your local services. |
