Imagine finding a planet just like ours, with the human race and animals etc. Exactly the same, except for some details.. they don't use cars but something else.
Would be cool to meet them[rofl]
And if most scifi shows are correct in the fact that all aliens speak perfect English with a strong American accent.

Actually, an alien today with an American accent is more likely to say hola then hello

It's very exciting - but considering it'd take 40 years to send a message and get it back, long distance calls are out of the question. Imagine the lag playing GoW?

All they actually do know is it's approximate mass, distance to its sun, and temperature. Everything else is either informed guesses or pure BS.
you can get more than that from light analysis, such as any water and stuff. i dont know exactly so look it up yourself.

Not in this case - the object is too close to its parent star to be resolved directly; its position, mass and size are inferred from the movement of the star.

If you mean time wise, then not very long if you use instant transmission.

It's already been stated but you can calculate it easily:

Light travels 3x10^8 meters every second (m/s)

1 year = 365.25 days = 8766 hours = 525960 minutes = 31557600 seconds

31557600 seconds x 3x10^8 (divided by 1000 into km) = 9,467,280,000,000 kilometers

it will take 38598 years to get there traveling at 28,000 km/h.

28,000 km/h (17,000 mph) is what a space shuttle or international space station rotates the earth. Which at an altitude of 250km above earth takes around 90 minutes to do a complete orbit.

damn thats a lot of time between planets... i bet you there is millions of planets with inhabitents, and they are all wondering just like us, if there is other aliens out there. Who will get there first? obviously not us, considering we have alreayd U.F.O sightings... imagine once WE are the UFO'S... and we viist them one day, they will think what we think of current UFOS.... weird universe we live in..
