Comcast Internet
I've been on the 6m/384k package for about 9 months now, but I always get about 12m/350k sustained (16m down with powerboost) Now today my internet died and I looked over at my modem to see it resetting itself. Now I'm consistently getting this...

I noticed this too in Folsom, CA. I pay for a 6m/320kb line and i checked the other day over my wireless and was getting 12mb/850kb.
Good stuff! |
I just downloaded XP SP2 to check to see if I was really getting that speed, and got this...

Thats awesome. I have comcast too, its the same as its been for a while now. I'm switching to verizon fiber optic as soon as its available in my area. I saw them working on my street too!

I MISS COMCAST!!!
I just had crap charter.... 39.99/m for crap 3mb then i switched sbc for like next to nothing im getting 1.5mb |
Ahhhhhh. Now I get it. I have Comcast as well and I noticed that it would start off around 20Mbps and then drop, then I saw you mention and read up on it. Makes a lot more sense now. http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/laugh1.gif

Must be nice. Comcast in my area has been crap recently. Constant time outs, bleh...
But wait.. when did this happen???? I just ran these tests: Here is my speed from ABQ, NM to El Paso, TX: http://www.speedtest.net/result/109068779.png -Meh But Here it is to Scottsdale, AZ: http://www.speedtest.net/result/109069042.png -Daymn! And LA: http://www.speedtest.net/result/109070067.png -Not quite as Daymn, but still better than what i expected.. So, when did this upgrade happen??? |
You lucky bast/rds. I hope your modems melt from all that speed and catch your computer on fire! http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ilies/sad1.gif
I am still getting the same old, same old. 8500/360 on a plan rated for 6000/384. When I move into my apartment here in the next few weeks, I think that I am going to be getting the upgraded Comcast plan for $15 more that is rated for 8000/768. |
Red dog - i just upgraded to that plan (only $10 more though) last night. Rebooted the modem this morning, and check this speed test:

Wow, my only choice is Charter and that maxes at 5000/512.
They have an "experimental" 10mb line they're testing with select customers. [rolleyes] |
Comcast has been horrible back home, I'm at the uni now. Hopefully when I go back it will be nice. We get intermittent service and tests show about 1-1.5mb down [thumbdown] .
|
So yeah, Comcast just sold our area to Time Warner last year as part of the Adelphia going-out-of-business-spectacular, and it happened right before comcast started their powerboost and speed upgrades. Now that I'm on TW, we have NO speed upgrades in sight, unless you live in CA or NYC...[thumbdown]

Mine is the basic comcast plan and it's 6000/768 plus speed boost. Maybe they upgraded my area so we wont switch to verizon? I might bust them a call before I switch and give them one last chance to give me more free upgrades.

I get 16mb/1mb from bulldog but the line is more like 18.5/1
|
I just noticed the other day my Road Runner got an unexpected boost as well.
The last I knew I was getting 5mb/384k but now its at 10mb/1mb, not sure when it happened but I like it alot! http://www.speedtest.net/result/109922845.png |
