Were it my decision, I'd do away with all separate forums not pertaining to Civ, and integrate them.

It was made easier by moving it to a different area over temporarily Topping it.

It clears all that sports related spam out of the OT.

The main disappointment with it is that the snobs who post there won't discuss northern union .

But Winston does have a point.

All other sports, except for a very narrow selection, are not noticed at all. I have completely stopped posting sports threads, for that very reason. No one care to reply to them in the sports forum.

I sooo wanted to make threads about the TdF, but I didn't care to do it, as I knew that no one would notice those threads.

This division sucks, to be honest.

To be fair - nothing falls quickly in the OT forums these days. I've been looking at the same boring, stagnant threads for the last week.

On the other hand I only have a passing interest in sports and did sometimes post in sports threads when they caught my attention in the oT. I don't think I've made a sports post since they were banished to their own forum.

Sports should be put back to the regular off-topic forum. I never check it because it's all about ovalball anyway

Let's go through this, shall we?

We can't do that now, because there's zero interest in that kind of casual discussion in the Sports Forum. Seems like a self-fulfilling argument. We can't do that casual discussion in the Sports Forum. Well, why don't you start a thread? No, because no one will post on it... and around and around it goes.

Now in the old days before the Sports Forum came into existence, this would have provided a good basis for an elaborate thread in the OT. As it turned out, I posted about it in the World Football Thread and was lucky enough (!) to solicit just a couple of replies So... wait. In teh "Good Old Days" you would have posted a THREAD in the OT about it. But you decided to post a POST in a thread dedicated to discussion of World Football and were disappointed when the big fans moved on to other things about World Football in that thread and that casual posters didn't want to slog through pages and pages of stuff to find that information.

Have I got that right? So... what exactly was your justification for not posting a thread in the Sports Forum on the issue? Let's try to compare apples to apples, shall we?

There's just one thread with NO replies on the World Athletics Championships, for crying out loud! Before, it'd have gotten massive responses in the OT for the two weeks' duration of the meet. Talk is cheap. I doubt there'd be discussion (forget about "massive responses") on the World Athletics Championships in the Off Topic either.

As it is, the very invention of a Sports Forum has killed off any broader discussion of sports like we used to have on here. Ah, the self-fulfilling stuff again. Why don't you try to have some threads about "broader discussion of sports"?

Oh, and don't hold your breath about the admins deciding to put the sports threads back into the OT.

It is a matter of fact, that sports discussion on all other sports than the ones with high American interest has ided, since the inception of the Sports Sub Forum.

So... Perhaps he just tried to fit his post within the norms of the forum. Football related posts go into the footbal thread etc. Hardly a reason to flame the man

Have I got that right? So... what exactly was your justification for not posting a thread in the Sports Forum on the issue? Let's try to compare apples to apples, shall we? Exactly what he said. He knew that it would generate next to no replies, since hardly anyone checks it. Again, this is a matter of fact.

Talk is cheap. Seems to me that you yourself is taking good advantage of that here.

I doubt there'd be discussion (forget about "massive responses") on the World Athletics Championships in the Off Topic either. The history of the site shows that it would at least have generated more responses in the "proper" OT than in the "invisible forum"

Ah, the self-fulfilling stuff again. Why don't you try to have some threads about "broader discussion of sports"? He has already answered that

Oh, and don't hold your breath about the admins deciding to put the sports threads back into the OT. Well, we wont then But it seems to me that everyone loses out.

Asmodean Yep. Apolyton's age old problem (old owners and new) - ignoring their posters.

Hell, I've been waiting 10 months for a simple answer to a simple question. I assume my matter went to committee along the way...

I suspect I know your answer Sloww, unfortunately it was a permissive question and you don't have the authority to agree.
