cars, what's the best for me?

I need a car, but I'm not exactly car smart. I know the generals, but not details.
I have a budget of $2,500. Any suggestions on what I should get?

is that budget also inclusive of insurance, usually first timers who dont have their parents funding go for 1-1.4 litre engines for example polo's, corsa's, fiesta's, etc,

I'm picking my new used car tomorrow
a 2dr 94 civic si coupe, 5spd, only 196k
paid CAD4100 cash.

i personally prefer Japanese cars as from mine and parents experience, they are quite reliable

For $2500 I know that you can get a Buick Le Sabre with only like 100k miles on it. Great car, and a great reliable motor.

Its a Granny car, and it might be sorta weird driving a granny car, but we have one and it is the ****!!!

Chevy Caviler?
Sports car?
Supra
350z
Dodge Stealth
Ford Escape

$2500 imo is really hard to shop for. I would just the whatever looks to be in the best condition with the least amount of miles possible without worrying about what it looks like so much, unless it is complete ****.

Nissan 240sx
Nissan Altima 98-01 (I have a yr 2000 and love it!)
Nissan Sentra

And remember that most foreign cars with 100k+ mileage are the same as an american car with about 50-60k. I bought my Altima with 109k and have had no problems and still runs awesome now with 118k.

That can be very debatable. All of the Japan cars that I have worked with have or have had serious issues, but with American, I have never had a serious issue with one yet.

Today I got to talk to some dude from Tawian who visits the states a lot. He is looking at a new car to get for when he visits, and asked my brother what he should get. My brother said, well here Toyota, Honda and Nissan are the best. He then went on and said, "No! They brake. Bad cars!" Pretty much just like that.
And in my experiances with at least Toyota and Honda, that is very true.

You can also look at beyond the car itself. If something does go wrong, how much is it going to cost? With American cars, it is generally much much cheaper to fix then a Jap car whether you do it yourself or get a mechanic to do it.

He's right. Ford's Duratec line is about as reliable as any engine around...and there modern v8's almost as good.

GM's ecotec is a heck of a workhorse as well...

America has really gotten a hell of a lot better in the past decade on engine design...
