Default My mother...
So, my mom's been having back problems for a few years. The last few days they've escalated to the point she's been alternating between lying down, crying and just being depressed.

Hence we agreed to call a doctor tonight. My dad made the first call, which just resulted in "consult your GP tomorrow".

Then I made a daring move. Called the same doctor, and began arguing with him. He was being pretty arrogant, asking questions like "So exactly what do you expect us to do?".

I answered his questions, and he suddently ended the conversation with "Allright, someone's coming over soon", then hung up.

The doctor arrived, and saw that it was pretty bad with my mom; She got injections with antirheumatics, muscle relaxants and 5mg of morphine. Now she's soundly asleep, which she really needed! The pain was keeping her from sleeping...

It's not fun having seeing your mom like that [no]

It hasn't been that bad. I mean, she's been functioning virtually normally, until yesterday...

Nope. He bitched about "well, it's chronic, so contact GP". I said that it was an acute worsening.

Then he said that thing about my expectations, to which I said sedation... Then he complied.

Was a 10 minute phone call at least. My dad's happy that I made the second call, although it slightly weakened his authority

You guys get doctors to make house calls if you complain enough to them? Wow that's amazing, over here if you need treatment after abut 5pm in the evening it's either go and sit and wait for 1-2 hours in urgent care or go and sit and wait 5-6hours in emergency. Unless of course it's life threatening then you can get treated right away.

I'm sure your mum appreciates you posting her current medical condition on the internet on a forum board to be archived and retrieved at will by those with no morals as well as read about by lots of random people who are members here.

now wasnt that insensitive. come on this isnt something you should be posting, its not about you. Its about your mum, give her some dignity by not sharing things i'm sure she'd rather keep to herself and not broadcast to the world.
Oh yeah, he really got personal. He even called her mom and said she had a back problem. I guarantee if it was anyone but North the posts following would be purely sympathetic.

Erm... I don't see her name, address, phone number and photos of her suffering here. What a load of crap. [rolleyes]

Yeah, I don't see a problem making a post about family health problems.

However, this thread seems particularly distasteful to me because it is more about northy "saving the day" than about his mother (considering a thread titled "my mother..." there's precious little really about his mother).

So? I'm sure he still cares about his mother's condition. Besides, lots of people here write about how great they are and the things they've done, so what's different here? Unless you're suggesting we only start threads about how much we suck.

1) You're sure? Great!

2) Who's suggesting that we only write about how much we suck?

3) Once you read enough north threads, you'll quickly find out they're always about him. This is one of them, disguised as something else. If it was a straight "I'm t3h awesome" thread it wouldn't be bad, it's the fact that he starts a thread supposedly about his mom, but really is a vehicle for showcasing his heroism and usual medical knowledge. At least that's how it reads to me.
