Default Seeking Canadian legal counsel. Business/bankruptcy related...
Hello. I've been operating at a cafe in Canada for only a little under annually, and recently, both owners (partners, I'm assuming) filed for bankruptcy. It went bankrupt right before the bi-weekly check was said to be passed out. The owners never approached us, or told us such a thing. We heard from the top cook (who had been obviously in touch with among the owners) in the future by way of a time later to get our last inspections. However the owners never turned up. A couple of days pass, and I hear from another employees that the two entrepreneurs aren't going to pay the whole team the two week work and holiday pay the workers are eligible for. Therefore ostensibly, the staff group isn't getting taken care of both months worked, as well as the holiday pay. Seemingly, if an files for bankruptcy, the dog owner no further has got the duty to cover the team what they owe. Is this correct? Could it be entirely legitimate for who owns a business not to pay the team what he owes if he filed for bankruptcy? That all seems questionable at best. The manager of the restaurant is just a uniform, and a golfing ranch is owned by him. However his split up, 2nd company goes broke, and he's no further required to cover the team for the two weeks. What's even stranger, is that the owners never approached us, or offered any description to us.
