Default Can I host my own web
How would I go about hosting my own website, I have a domain and pay about £100 a year to have it hosted but would it be possible and what would I need to host myself.

Cheers

If you dont have too much traffic you could host it on a PC in-house, with something like ubuntu LAMP server on it.

most ISP's dont like you running servers on consumer broadband they want you to use their business packages.

You will need to get an internet connectio with a static IP and register it.

I would serisouly think about power use, its not a problem if you have a PC on 24/7

Wow, that's very expensive hosting. I pay $60 a year. http://www.shockhosts.net. What kind of space/features do you need? You could go about hosting it off your home connection, but honestly it's not worth it if you can find a cheap host.

How much webspace do you need? Lots of ISP's provide 200mb free of charge so you could just move ISP.

it all depends on how much bandwidth/space do you need and willing to spend.

there's definetly cheaper hosts available out there.

myself, I'm running an Ubuntu LAMP server. just forward port 80 on your router to your server.

Who is your current host?

Im using Krystal Hosting and they seem very reasonable. £40 for 10SQL databases, 1.5GB space

I have unlimited storage at the moment, I'm probably using about 5 or 6 gig but I use Frontpage which seems to limit the amount that can be uploaded, if a file is larger than a few hundred meg i get errors when I try and upload

can you use FTP or something to upload the files and just use Frontpage to build them?
