Well it is very important!
I know none of the non-Catholics will really understand how important it is, because I didn't either until I became one. It basically is a week set aside for the church. Friday isn't a solution because that's Good Friday, which is a holy day of obligation and one of mourning. The only real solution would be to put it on the following Friday for a St. Patrick's day celebration, after Holy Week is finished. I don't see why the arts Festival should care about the date, because the Monday or the Friday following is all the same to them. As for thumbing your nose at the church, well let me say, it's like having MLK day the same day as Mardi Gras. I somehow doubt Mardi Gras would move for MLK day. |
