The black ants in the Philippines have wasp sized soldiers that often are carrying 5-6 of the smaller ones. They're relatively rare, in that there are roughly a gazillion of the smaller ones moving along whatever route they've chosen, and only a few million of the larger ones.

With the fire ants it's the smaller soldiers (smaller than workers) which pack the most punch.
