Default Navigation System on Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren

Ive looked everywhere online...

I understand that the SLR Mclaren comes with a built-in navigation system. Im quite confused however... the car is lacking of any signs of an LCD screen nor the instrument cluster & the audio deck behind the dash cover doesnt seem to have an electrically-retracting panel. How does this work? Since the car is in a class of its own, im guessing that turn-by-turn directions come via Tele-Aid & a woman who sounds like Betty White telling you to make a U-turn if possible...

Someone care to elaborate?

The navigation information appears in the two displays within the gauge cluster. (similar to how Audi did it before the full-screen nav systems they have now)

That was my second guess. Couldnt find photos of the guage cluster in navigation mode...

And how do you enter a destination?

I believe that's the old COMAND system. It probably works like how you would text on a regular phone.

Good observation, 1st gen COMAND had an eject button too. However, the eject button on it was for the hidden cassette deck. I wonder whats behind the SLRs radio head... COMAND 1.0 also had a control mouse to make destination entry easy; a virtual keyboard is shown on the screen & all you do is scroll to the select digits/letters, kind of hard for a whole alphabet & numpad to fit in the SLRs tiny instrument cluster guage. Too complicated Mercedes...

I though it uses the tele aid crap for navi. The person on the other end then sends the info to the cars on board navigation.

Pffft, I have to preload destinations to the navigation system? So if im on the road & find out I need to be at a certain destination, I have to go to my iPhone & download the route from it to my car & then wait till Tele-Aid recieves it (& lord knows how long that will take) until I can hear someone tell me which direction to go? Might as well just press the "i" button & request for a live consultant...
