I must say it feels like we’re back to the good old days. It may be hard to believe, but it was in February of 2009, during the height of the global warming alarmist movement, that this committee last held a hearing on global warming science. Back then we heard promises from the Obama administration of a clean energy revolution with green jobs propped up by billions in taxpayer dollars to companies like Solyndra. What came of all those promises? The global warming movement has completely collapsed and cap-and-trade is dead and gone.

Australias carbon tax came into being July 1. Now you pay extra tax on electricity, car parking, transport. That is the trade part. I don't see any emission permit trading so far but early days. Haven't heard squat about the Cap part which I thought was supposed to constrain emission growth. Seems like emission growth will continue on unconstrained and we will just pay more tax. Funny that.

they can't even tell the truth enough to balance the budget.
most of them are scientifically illiterate. i have zero interest in giving the House & Senate tax $ to go through the bread & circuses of debating manmade climate change. leave that up to serious scientists who hopefully have some independence left after considering their grant sources, e.g. Exxon financed climate "science". so, where do i go to get paid for sequestering CO2 ? heck i wouldn't mind getting paid for planting trees, although there's more to it than that. i would like to sell carbon offsets directly to interested customers - if they are willing to pay - without a middleman. if i want to go through a middleman, i guess i call, Goldman Sachs or ... Al Gore ? |
