That isn't the case in most Olympics. I've heard reports about London being empty. I wonder why turn out to London Olympics has been so low?
Yes, I'm sure that's what you want to believe. The turn out at the Olympics isn't low. It's just that people are (supposedly) avoiding London's usual attractions in favour of going to the Olympics, or avoiding London altogether. Certainly an empty London wasn't my experience when I went up there on Tuesday. But I only went from Victoria station to the IMAX and back. They're expecting a lot more people from tomorrow, since the athletics are starting and the Olympic Stadium will come into use.

The extra tickets are because of sponsors etc. not using their tickets leaving empty seats at "sold out" events and people were complaining.

So even the people who travel half-way across the world to spend a few hours per day attending a sporting event can't find the time to visit London's historical attractions? That doesn't bode well for London.

I also think perhaps last year's riots and the humiliating inability to contain them are confining many visitors to their hotels.

Sparafucil,...anyone please tell me...

Why are you the only one on here that makes me have visions of grabbing you by the back of the head and smashing your face onto a table top repeatedly ?

I don't even get that when dangermoose or willy piss me off.

I don't think your intelligent mate, you remind me of how bungle used to be, but your way more contrived and scathing in all of your replies.

I guess if it had been America the cops would have gone in guns blazing (quite literally probably). It's not so easy to control that kind of disorder when it's popping up randomly in lots of different places.

Also, the riots never affected anywhere a tourist might venture.

Nice of you to showcase another glaring hole in your understanding of the real world.

No, American police probably wouldn't have twiddled their thumbs while violent hooligans torched the capital city and assaulted innocent bystanders for days on end.

About 2am. Been tired since 6 but had to console the gf all night as her mate is moving to Canada. On the plus Sid, I did get a bj.

to be honest, we don't have that many riots, and although the police were slow on the uptake they dealt with it in the end.

and most of these hooligans were of families of relative wealth.

I wonder what she gave her mate

Her mate is a good looking girl, so I would like to think they kissed at least!

Doesn't help your cause much now Bungle, but to avoid such situations in the future is it not worth renewing your passport or getting a provisional driving licence?

I don't know how true this is, but I have heard that you can't use a provisional for identification if you are over 30??

DM, you pretend to be a psychologist, maybe you can help.

Has anyone considered culture shock?

Can one safely go from almost 40 years in their mother's basement to an international sporting event?

I'm not sure it's worth splashing out on a new passport (considering how expensive they are) when I've got no immediate plans to use one for its intended use. I never even used the one I have (apart from once as security at the Tate); I bought it for trip abroad with a mate that fell through.

As for the Olympics tickets, I'll just go with the P@H option if I manage to get some, and it seems an expired passport is valid for such matters anyway.
