Quantum of Solace was a little disappointing after Casino Royale, but this looks dramatic and rather good.

There is no such thing as a **** Bond film. Even the rubbish ones are worth a watch.

And they get better with age. I remember thinking Moonraker was crappy when it first came out... but now it's a right romp!

Some of the Roger Moore ones are accidentally and cringeworthingly funny with some of the things he says. Stuff I don't think you'd get away with nowadays, but they were a totally different type of film then.

They seemed to oscillate between being pretty serious and parody, both within the films and between films. Live and Let Die is pretty dark (one of my favorites), so are parts of Octopussy but the tarzan yell was very odd, if not pure class!

Sam Mendes is directing this. He did American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, etc...
