185cm and currently 86-90kg (depends on day and scales) with a MBI of 25-26 but when I was doing more physical work I was 95-99kg with a BMI of 28-29 but with significantly less body fat!
I don't know where the weight was as, despite looking 'stocky' from a distance, I still thought I was a bit on the skinny side. That may have been because I went through a bit of a growth spurt, gaining around 10kgs on the upper body, in my late thirties as an old neck injury was improved - had to give almost all my shirts, jackets, etc, away as I could barely get them over my shoulders, let alone buttoned. So there's still plenty of time for you guys to bulk up ![]() As I recall, the 'ideal' in the American SF stories of the fifties and sixties seemed to be 6 foot and 180lbs and that was a lot bigger than almost every male where I was growing up. |

Maybe because you don't work out? BMI is a very flawed system for those who have more muscle then a 10 year old boy. I don't think the maths are based around the muscle mass of a 10 year old boy. But yes, it is slightly flawed for those who 'body build' to any degree. It can work for someone who is generally fit though. The trade off of less fat and slightly more muscle of a fit person would still produce a figure that makes sense. |

A well toned man with a layer of fat can be considered obese, maybe even morbidly obese, yet he could lift up your honda civic. BMI is terrible measurement.
Am I fat? Yup. But because of the amount of muscle I have (not a lot, but enough) my body fat percentage is lower than someone with a lower BMI who doesn't have my build. |

A well toned man with a layer of fat can be considered obese, maybe even morbidly obese, yet he could lift up your honda civic. BMI is terrible measurement. It's obviously pretty useless for athletes etc, but not many people are. You know if it's a relevant calculation, so it's up to you to lie to yourself. Which I am in no way insisting you are! |

Actually you can, muscle tone does not mean what you think it means.
You could even have great muscle tone and be straight out fat, it's not the same as having low body fat. http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/tonus |
