I do not agree with this. I WANT a track bred suspension, stiff ride doesn't bother me at all. I'd rather have it for that 10% time II might use it vs not having it for the 10% time I'd want it.

This concept is what led to the USA land yacht handling of the 70's.
NO, because you can still tune a cars suspension on a proper track like Fiorano, Barcelona, or any test track.

Nurburgring nordschleife has a horrible bumpy surface, its poorly tarred and to get a car to go fast there requires a very specific setup that ONLY works there. Setup to go fast there is just a useless setup for a performance road car.

Bumpy poorly tarred roads? Sounds like the roads around me.

Real roads aren't smooth like uber dollar race tracks all the time. Sometimes they have rough spots and a car should be able to handle that AND go fast. So the Ring is essentially perfect for that then.

The manufacturers use it for a reason, it punishes a cars suspension.

I severely doubt that the road around you is ANYTHING like Nurburgring.

Furthermore any decent City has good roads that are reasonably well tarred. Thats where all the performance cars end up being used anyway. We arent buying offroad vehicles but road cars. A road car needs a BALANCED suspension, Nurburgring setup is not even a track setup, because no track is like that, and its most certainly not a road setup either since it will not give a good ride at road speeds nor will you being going fast enough on a poorly surfaced B-road to make use of it either...if you are then you clearly shouldnt be driving.

Theres nothing wrong with testing the durability of the suspension there, many manufacturers do (eg Porsche) but they do not retain the suspension setup for the showroom cars.

They use it for all the wrong reasons though. Because of all the banked corners the cars have to have incredibly stiff suspension with solid damping in order to feel composed going around them. This does not translate well to the road where corners are not banked and don't induce additional g loads.

It's a bit like testing a submarine's flying capabilities.

It's a bit like testing a submarine's capabilities in a bathtub.
I think that's better.

It is. By a large margin.

Around where I live there are a lot of mountains, with roads that were built a very long time ago, they often are slightly to heavily banked.

I presume you take all of those corners at 100mph plus?

Not at all, but that doesn't change that I would prefer having a car that doesn't have a lazy slushy suspension.

Which is a completely different argument. The 'ring is a fashionable place to set up cars, not a great one.

Its just marketing, which is funny because several people supporting it openly laugh at people buying apple marketing.

If I had ever bought a car based on it's times on the ring your argument would hold water, however I haven't, so your point is as valid as the idea that the moon is made from cheese.

Logic is quietly weeping in the corner over your blatant neglect and disregard for it.

What? Your arguing that the 'ring is a good place to test cars and I'm saying it's just marketing that makes you think that. Why don't you just spend even the tiniest bit of time thinking about what you read before replying?

Your reading comprehension also is a fail, I agreed with TFO about not liking soft suspensions etc.

You're a very angry and easily irritated girly man.

Aaand just because, it's "you're" not "your".

Maybe you should go buy yourself another man purse and some chocolates, it may calm you down.

You just want to think I'm angry so that you have something to moan about.

You just want people to think I only think you are angry and moaning about it to deflect people from the truth that you are moaning about things you can't possibly know about because you are secretly a very ugly woman trapped in an adolescent boy's body and thus are a terrible driver anyway.

But really, we all know.

That was weak.

Maybe you just don't have the wit to banter?

Is it that time of the month?

Sorry, it's really sunny here and I can't see the screen very well, or be bothered doing anything more than sunbathing.

I hate cars with slushy soft suspension, and on the roads around here you genuinely need a car that can handle twisty turns and mountain roads.
Just because a car isnt setup on the Nurburgring doesnt mean it has a "slushy" suspension. And also just because a car has a comfortable ride doesnt mean it doesnt handle well.

A Porsche 911 or Audi S5 or a BMW M5 have exceptional ride quality and performance but they are not bone rattling like a Opel Corsa OPC Nurburgring edition.

Also a car with a super stiff suspension is not mean its a good handling car, eg the Opel Astra OPC, or Proton Satria Neo CPS with its "lotus tuned" suspension.
