Buying a 600cc Motobike Later This Month... Narrowed Down To...
I'm only willing to spend £2000 on one and all three of these come around that kind of price dependent on mileage really and obviously condition. I've ruled the Suzuki SV650 out now... as nice as it was... after playing on the 600 XJS's during our 600 practice sessions... I've decided I wanted sports bike but ONLY 600cc or below... and the CBR600 fits in perfect, good performance with 108bhp so not mental, gets great reviews, everyone loves them, job done. The Suzuki is a possible, but I don't look and say wow that's nice... so I think it's CBR time... I do my practicals on 8th and 16th May then I'm all passed!
Honda CBR600F Sport, Either a T Reg 1999 model in the colour combo below... http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/OTU4WDE2MD...7E%7E60_12.JPG or a Honda CBR600F Sport 2001 in the colour combo below... this is the face-lifted model of above with the pointy front and injection instead of carbs... http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTE5NVgxNj...7E%7E60_12.JPG Or a Suzuki GSXR600... in probably the standard white/blue/red http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$%28KGrHqVHJ...g%7E%7E_12.JPG |
All three very nice machines, which I'm sure you'll enjoy a lot. I don't think it will matter greatly which you end up with, I prefer the looks of the red CBR.

That is a great sports bike, and Honda have the best and most reliable engines although parts are expensive. Although not as expensive as the RR to insure, it will still cost you a few bob. I am very much against new riders getting a sports bikes, you do not have the experience neccessary. Going from an ER5 or similar to what is a very capable sports bike is not the same as going from a Fiesta to a sports car.

He'll be fine, those bikes won't really bite you if you give it the beans at lower RPM. I even rode a ZX10R and it was easy to ride as long as you didn't open the throttle in 1st gear at >mid range RPM

At any rate, I guess Pug's already made his choice by now. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif |

Older riders are also disproportianally represented as even a relatively small bike is more powerful than anything available the last time some of them rode.
Back when I started riding, the Kwaka Z1 900 had just come out and that had 82hp (one was a cousin's second bike after getting his licence on a 100cc dirt bike - but he was a skilled, if lunatic rider), and was the most powerful production engine at the time - now a good 500 is pushing that and is a darned sight smaller and lighter as well! The result is that a casual twist of the throttle can have one travelling a darned sight faster than one may realise and if one isn't paying attention... |
Going CBR600F as in the first picture, the 1999 in that colour... seen one today riding and thought it was fantastic looking machine on the move, loved the yellow and can't quite stretch right now to a £2200 for the 2001 editions... so, hopefully will be getting a viewing on a 1999 tomorrow... if I like it's mine baby lol.
Was tempted by this, as it's a bargain if it's genuine... but something doesn't seem right for me with it... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2610143411...84.m1438.l2649 http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTE5NVgxNj...3iQ~~60_12.JPG |

A VTR1000 or superduke will be much harsher while making a lot less HP. |

Did you give it some full throttle yet? |
1999 model, with 8921 miles, yep you read it right, same owner for last 5 years as well, 1 previous before that. I've got to get it shipped, had an inspection on it, A1, not a single thing highlighted apart from a tiny rip on the seat where it's been caught apart from that the inspection said it was like a new bike, so made up. However it's coming in from Ireland and thus won't have it for a couple of week, which is fine as I don't do my Mod 2 test until next Wednesday anyway so no rush, but couldn't say no to this one, very rare in this colour combo and especially the mileage, so excited... the price is spot on as well, these are going for around £2500 from dealers with 20k+ on them... I got it for £1800 all in... with £125 shipping to Wales.

here he is... now it's just a matter of getting him home... bought him today... he's a 1999 T Reg (although private plate) CBR600F in my fave colour, yellow, but with the turquoise bottom... only a couple of changes from standard, small indicators, Devil Exhaust, Smoked Bubble Screen... but this was the killer for me, a genuine 8921 miles on him since new, 2 previous owners, currently who's had him 5 years... so made up with this... it'll be ready when I pass my Module 2 next week :-)

wow, low miles. good deal. check service history - it might need an 8K mile service, depending on when it was last done. but it is nothing major on those regardless.

Looks nice! If it's a bike that isn't used much, make sure to check the tyre pressure. One bar can make a world of difference. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif
