Default Does anyone here use GIS in their job?
Just curious, does anyone here use GIS in their job? If so what do you use it for and do you think it is a good skill to have?

I've had some experience with it but would consider myself a novice.

I have used it in school and some interviews for jobs that use it. I had one teacher that recommened to have that as a skill. I get x2 the amount of interviews now with it, if only I could land the job!! It seems mainly conservation areas and governments use it (in my field). It can come in handy for any municipal infrastructure department. Lately it seems all of the cities are going digital and taking their maps of where the infrastructure is and putting it into a GIS software as it saves time and is easily accessible

Nope, but my degree and dissertation was heavily GIS focussed. Bit of a shame I've not used it in anger since i graduated back in 2000.

I'm not entirely certain, but I believe it is used in heavy abundance in the porno industry.

Is that the one? I did google it, but there were about 12 different options.

Snowball edition?
If you want. I'll be in Florida in a few months if you want to act it out.

I had to use Arcview GIS heavily in college. What a freaking waste of time for a law enforcement degree. It's really more for research than anything though.

I know the local PD here uses it to find potential drug houses.
