I have only seen one double sided dvd in my life and that was the starship troopers movie, very nice when in the middle it shows a dvd flipping over. Does not take you out of the movie at all

I saw one way back, Eraser or Conspiracy Theory or something, one side was Fullscreen mode the other side was Widescreen Mode. Those were the days.

The first Goodfellas DVD was double sided. Extremely annoying even back then (10 years ago).

I'm glad BluRay has put an end to this madness, once and for all.

Not really. There's plenty of space on a DVD for a whole film (unless it's really long like the LotR extended versions). I've never even come across a DVD that had a film (apart from really long ones) split over 2 sides/discs; dual layer discs have been around for years, so no need.

Even the aforementioned LotR films still get split over two discs on BD.

Man that was ages ago.

Dang, I had hoped LotR didn't need to be split on BD.

The films are nearly fours long, so there wasn't much choice if one wants a decent bit rate.

I thought this was more idiotic!? Movie was empty?! stoped?!

If you're a non-native English speaker I sincerely apologise.

A few of my early DVDs are double sided. My only gripe is the text telling you which side it is is tiny, and then it's slightly confusing because when you're looking at side 1 it says side 2 on it and vice versa. 1st world problems eh?!?!?

I watched one of the extended edition LotR films once, and I split it over two nights because of the length. It was only when I was about half way through disc 2 on the second night that I realised I put in the disc 2 of one of the other films!

I think you're being a bit hard on yourself it it just stopped without a request to turn the disc over - I think almost everyone else would have also re-inserted it without turning it over unless told to or having had them before.
